So it may not have been over-carbonated at all.
You need to complain to the weather gods
i fail to see how they could've expanded to the extent they exploded within 30 minutes of buying and opening.Ive been taught to open fizzy drinks over a sink in the off chance it spills over and at least its contained in the sink.
as sensible as that is, is it really practical to open all drinks over a sink? really? Its really very simple, it says cover cap, you didn't (as in if you had used a cloth the cloth would have avoided the spray)...it might not be what you want to hear, but they don't put these cautions on the labels for fun...
i don't think you quite understanding the extent of the spray, a cloth wouldn't have contained it. the force of the spray lifted my hand off the cap let alone a cloth. i understand the warnings aren't there for fun.
in terms of comments regarding how the water hit the laptop, i really don't think you understand the extent of the spray.0 -
So how are you proposing to convince Tesco that it was a bottle of their water that damaged your laptop ?0

Well when you add the warm weather to the fact it had just been transported so would have taken a certain amount of shaking in the process it could easily cause this.
If the bottle had been over pressurised you would have had difficulty opening it as you would have to press down on the lid while turning it while at the same time the internal pressure would have been forcing against you hand making it quite difficult to open, unless done slowly which would slowly and gently release the pressure.0 -

Well for anything fizzy eg lemonade or sparkling wine I dont open near anything electrical eg a laptop but over a sink and i open it slowly to release the pressure slowly to prevent the contents going everywhere.0 -

You didnt state in the OP you did not want judgemental and condescending comments on how to correctly open a bottle of water. Its an open forum so you cant really control what replies you get.
Good luck trying to get tesco to do anything about it.0 -

So you are saying you managed to carry it home without it getting shook up at all, carbonated bottles usually require a few hours before opening especially in warm weather so as you have found out they don't spray everywhere, not thirty minutes.0 -
