Cleaning a duvet

After reading this news on the BBC, it has made me think again the importance of doing it. Got to admit it don’t remember when mine was done last. Hence made me think what is best way to wash one?

We have a standard size washing machine so doubt it would fit a double bed duvet. Or is cheaper and easier to just buy a new one?

Seen them quite cheap in Asda and at the local weekend markets, which sometimes have duvets from around £10 mark.

Our local dry cleaners will launder duvets - but at a cost of £15 for a Kingsize

I think it depends on the quality of the duvet - you could regard them as being "disposable" if you can buy a new one for less than it costs to have an existing one cleaned. Or if the existing duvet was expensive to start with.

We're in the process of having all 6 existing duvets cleaned at the moment

I am pretty sure a duvet would fit in a laundrette's washing machine

  • i would take it to the local laundrette as above poster said it's pretty cheap about £2.00 compared to a new decent one. do not dry clean as the fumes will give you a headache
