Husband gave up smoking yesterday

I've been smoking for 17 years and have never tried to quit. My OH is trying at the moment and wants one of those e-cigarettes (just came on here to see if I could get a cheeky discount code - never thought there would be advice threads #WIN) I'm really not keen on replacing one crutch with another so it's interesting to hear others (tea lover) saying cold turkey can sometimes be the best way.0

I wonder how the OP's hubby is doing, she has gone very very quiet.0

Been on holiday only got back earlier today. Well we had a great week, he drank a few pints (which is when he wants a fag most) and he's done so well....he has not only still not had a fag (over 2 weeks now) but he's not used a patch on over a week. His second reading on the blow machine was 4 and in 2 weeks he's only been ratty twice. I'm so proud of him

Congrats to your OH! I was just telling my mother tonight that stopping smoking is one of the things I'm most proud of, probably because I thought I never could. That was 15 years ago. I am another one who has Allen Carr to thank (and my ex boyfriend who bought it for me - started reading it and couldn't put it down).
Good luck to your OH. It's not easy but it's not that hard either and the sense of freedom is fantastic - that carries you through.
I've just worked out that, as someone who smoked 30 a day, I've avoided smoking 164000 fags since I stopped. Zoinks!Stercus accidit0 -
Congrats. As an ex smoker myself I know how hard it it but I can look back and see the lovely things I have bought with my cig money (and reduced the length of my mortgage which has saved me £1000's
How about treating your husband using the money he has saved? It could be a good incentive to keep goingFind out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0
