Would you go to prison for hiding savings?

And no matter who tells me any different, the courts or you, its NOT savings its a pension. I know that and I am not ashamed of it hence my openess. It is just all the trigger around rules/regs and law that made me wonder about telling them about it but if any of them are anything like you I may think twice.
Other than when you were making the original claim...0 -

Not that bothered IMHO.
Maybe if youre her mate its OK?
I have said nothing of the sort here or elsewhere - quote the WHOLE thread and not part of it. And read this one. I have NEVER suggested that the OP would or should go to jail - quite the contrary, since I said that I didn't know but I hoped she wouldn't. And I am not turning her in, nor am I in a position to do so since I have no idea who she is. She ASKED whether she was commiting benefit fraud and I said yes she was and she should own up now - the same advice that I would give my friend if she ASKED me for the same advice. I have NEVER said that benefit fraud is right. I do not think it is. But that does not mean that I am going to turn in my friend and put her five children into care to suit your warped view of my morals. If she gets caught, that's her problem. And if the OP here gets caught - it is also her problem.
Now since you seem to have decided to pursue this argument across threads I am putting you on ignore, since you don't appear to be able to let it drop. Or get it right.0 -
I can't even read the whole of this post because it makes me sick! You have already confessed to two accounts with 'a few thousand' in, I wonder how many more you could have. You say you don't spend any money, so what do you live on? No wonder you have a few thousand squirrelled away considering you are not paying to live, we are!'No one can make you feel bad without your permission'

I'm pretty sure the OP knows how much tax she pays, after all she's the one who's paying it, yet some are basically saying she's a liar and she doesn't pay a lot of tax, how the hell do they know when they are not there?
If you are on an income low enough to be eligible for housing benefit, you are not paying a lot of tax because of your low income.
You don't need to be there to know that.Dear Lord, I am calling upon you today for your divine guidance and help. I am in crisis and need a supporting hand to keep me on the right and just path. My mind is troubled but I will strive to keep it set on you, as your infinite wisdom will show me the way to a just and right resolution. Amen.0 -

The OP has deliberately and fraudulently failed to declare savings for a decade.
I'd be surprised if it doesn't.0 -

After 10 years and even then you "accidentally forgot" to declare a second account with thousands in until you were presented with proof you had it by the investigating team.
That is out and out fraud. You have deliberately deceived the investigation team. The fact you held your hands up to what you thought they knew about and kept quiet about the one you thought you'd got away with just shows how devious you are.0 -
I think people need to put this in perspective, its not a big swindle. She hasnt brought a bank down, or threatened anyone or abused a position of trust.
Its not brilliant, but theres a lot more money lost to tax evasion by big buisnesses and I dont see them getting pulled to pieces on here.
In the grand scheme of things the world wont stop turning and shes no need to worry really because it will get sorted out.
At the end of the day theres not that many people who are squeaky clean.0 -
