Hi MRN - it was on one of her TV shows and I have to search for it on the interweb every time I do it. Its the one where she fries vermicelli then adds everthing else. :eek:WARNING:eek: if you do it - do not taste it until the end. If you have a sneaky chefs' priviledge taster you will chuck it all away as it tastes disgusting until you add the sherry and let the flavours develop. I am typing this after the event and have had a glass of wine. My first this month - at home! I don't bother with the fried pasta. Today I used chorizo, left over chicken, fried potato and veg so nothing like her original really but float under the spanish style. I nod to Nigella for the inspiration;)
I have decided that DH will be evicted to the beach hut, the little shed that I have pimped, just have to get him to agree. He's pulling 'that:(' face but can't argue the point:T Love it, game set and match to me and I've only gone and got athletics tickets for Monday night. I'm so excited my pelvic floor is well and truly being tested. Wandering Clouds will be home and are coming with me. Poor DH will be working - he needs to pay for a new shed :rotfl:0 -
Thanks for the tip not to taste till the sherry.... I can taste the sherry too right?!
I made a similar dinner tonight (regarding tasteing/smelling). Haddock with lemon and parsley breadcrumbs. The raw fish was quite smelly (more than I'd like, perhaps I'm used to cooking fresher) but once cooked it was amazing. Even OH said "you can make that again"MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -
Was it smoked Haddock - although all Haddock is a bit wiffy to be fair
The tasting of the sherry is - I would say - obligatory. I have also discovered that when you burn your tongue taking said tasters, that sinking it in the nearest glass of wine/sherry is far nicer than suffering it :rotfl: You would run any other part of the body burnt under cold water. Running my tongue under cold wine was just as good:)

No not smoked. Just regular. I think because I divided up a C0stco pack of haddock fillets up to freeze. I think it's probably best kept in atmospheric packaging prior to using. But is did say that it was ok to freeze.MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0

I did a risotto once that involved gorgonzola. Oh my word - we nearly had to move. The stink permeated every nook and cranny. The house stank and it made your eyes water. You could barely bring the fork to you mouth but somehow it tasted divine. Creamy, smooth and velvety. Luckily the memory of the taste out-weighs the smell - just. Its the sort of thing I would have at a restaurant but not sure I would cook at home again.0

Hi numpty just read through your diary, you are doing great. I'm building up savings in the hope of making annual overpayments (as we aren't 100% sure of financial future as yet so feel happier with access to the cash). I am in awe of those who overpay thousands too but as far as I'm concerned, all those little £5 I squirrel away from Quidco and the like add up. Between April and now I've saved triple what I hoped to save in 12 months and although I was pretty good with spending anyway I really focused down on groceries and petrol and am slowly but surely getting there with saving!
Best of luck! How is the swimming going?0 -
Thanks Ammonite. Its amazing where you find the money when you decide to do something. Even yesterday after bemoaning the fact that this month would be tight, I rounded up the savings £5.36 and upped the DD for the mortgage £4 as well. (& got Paralympic tickets:o) But no more spends for the month and I really wanted to go. I am going to try and do enough mystery shops to cover the ticket - it could be a busy month. I am definately a fan of the little and often approach.
Ah - I was wondering if anyone would bring me to confess that as yet I still haven't dipped my toe in the water. I'm a little worried that the back pain is actually a slipped disc rather than muscle strain but my physio is back from holiday this week so I will have to confess to her. I'm in a circle of pain, it hurts because I don't exercise and I don't excercise because it hurts. EXCUSES EXCUSES! I might change the signature so I have a record of when I go swimming and then I have to go or shame myself to the (MSE) world. I better dig out the costume.0 -
Oh dear - it does go from bad to worse. I went to do a mystery shop and that went ok but saw some shoes that were ideal as a pair of my work shoes need replacing or will do soon. So really must be careful for the rest of the month and we're not even in September yet!!!0

Hello! Just found your diary. To add to the previous comments inspired by GG, we're looking to be free in Dec 2015 (some work still needed to get there!) but by that time we will have had a mtge for 24 years and 5 months, so will have not raced towards it, by any means! My original target date was Jul 2016, as that was the original end date from our frst mortgage, so it seemed appropriate - but we're now ahead of that target, so I revised it
Mystery shopping - I registered for several companies and was offered assignments, but my SA tax form is a pain as it is, without having bits from mystery shopping in there, so I decided it would cost me more in extra accountancy fees than I'd probably make!(And I'm slightly on the lazy side, too!
