I am feeling much more normal this week. Back at the paid stuff properly and have been paid and also met up with some friends last night.
Budgeting had been done for the month but now DH wants some repairs done on his car before the MOT so I'll have to make some adjustments. Will probably also be spending to get to the funeral and depending on timing possibly also some overnight accommodation.
MSE wise, I have used veg in the fridge to make soup for lunch today.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Ok, so funeral was earlier this week and yes, it did involve lots of petrol, overnight hotel stays etc. Savings being dwindled even further now by DH being unexpectedly in hospital.
Unfortunately nothing really positive to report at the moment. I should be on holiday this week. So it's just occurred that the money I'd put aside for holiday spending can now be diverted to these other things.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Jazee, if you cannot go on holiday, how a couple of days out local to you, something you wouldn't normally do, but would interest you.
SPA / hair / nails/ posh lunch out / afternoon tea / visit local church / houses etc / boating on a lake.

I'm so sorry you're having such a sad and worrying time of it at the moment, Jazee. (((Hugs)))Better is good enough.0

Such a long time since I posted. Fortunately DH has made a full recovery, thank goodness for the NHS especially the ambulance staff who saved him. He is, however, back to drinking now. Ho hum, says he'll stop in the new year when he's had his next recovery session.
Anyway, finances have been completely depleted in the last three months with everything thats gone on and our absolute determination to have a great Christmas. Not helped today with work only paying out a quarter of my salary - don't think that will get sorted before Xmas.
So plans are to not have a holiday next year and squirrel away as much as we can and to live frugally!
I wish anyone reading a very happy Christmas.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
I've been working out what we've spent this year. Although we save £5k into long term savings, we depleted our emergency savings by£2k. If we carry on spending as we have been our overspend next year will be £5k.
Can't let that happen as I want to continue only part time. Have identified £4K of cut backs, need to get DH in board to recover the rest. Goodness knows if we'll be able to save anything next year but I've put a target of £3600.
Frugal living starts now. Homemade soup from leftovers for lunch.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
*snap* I made soup out of the root veggies left over from Christmas Day and had it with bacon scraps left over from Boxing Day breakfast. I, too, have some serious belt-tightening to do financially having done the first pass on my 2019 figures. Ooops.Better is good enough.0

Happy new year readers, esp juliejim and HB.
For me yesterday was a NSD. I went to the beach with the dogs for the day and DD paid for parking and lunch. Not so for DH who made an unnecessary online purchase and bought yet more food.
I'm not expecting to spend anything myself today.Spend less now, work less later.0
