And January has whizzed by too. Decision made, redundancy it is, and I've less than four weeks to go until I leave with no idea exactly what I'm going to do next. Has to be something though, the bills still need paying and I'd rather not have to use the redundancy pay off.

I've a day off the paid stuff today with appointments for me and the dogs, and someone coming round about some house maintenance (which for obvious reasons will be the last investment in the house for a while).

Unsettling, not knowing what happens next. I hope the redundancy offer is a satisfactory one so that you don't have to faff around trying to negotiate a better deal, and that you find something closer to home that suits you really soon. Good luck with it.

Thanks HB. Redundancy amount not quite confirmed yet but moving in the right direction. I'm exploring lots of options at the moment - temping, part-time, retraining.

Morning diary. So, redundancy possibly delayed in to March, we will see.

Not a lot happened this week. I got my hair cut yesterday, had accident with a shelf in the hair salon which resulted in my new jeans getting ripped and a small cut to my leg. I didn't have to pay much for the hair cut, the jeans will be used for decorating later today.

MSE wise - squirrelled a little to the savings and will be really careful with spends this week. Quite pleased that in 6 months of going in to an office every day, I've only bought lunch four times. One of those was this week when I ran out of bread.

  • Well done on the lunches. I have slipped into some extremely bad habits on buying coffees and lunches at work. I need to take a leaf. That might be my first resolution of being back.

Hello again diary. Well, redundancy is next week, and I am excited about what the future may hold.

This week has been a good one. DH's scan came back cancer free so just some treatment to have. DD and her fiance are moving house so they will be happier than in the shoe box they currently live in which is covered in mould.

I had a night out last night, a really good local radio gardening speaker. I spent £4.50 and got tea and biscuit, 2 pairs of gardening gloves and a raffle ticket which won me two tickets to a spring show. Today I went to a jumble sale, spent £2.90 and got a bath mat to use to make the dogs snuffle mats, a gadget for the kitchen (which DH doesn't like), some toothbrush heads (which has saved me a fortune) and again had tea and cake.

Then it was off to an open day, where I got lots of freebies for the dogs and more tea and cake.

Beginning to watch every penny now as not sure when I will be gainfully employed again.

Must contact DS and his fiancee and see what they're up to.

Lots of big changes going on there, Jazee. I hope they treat you kindly at work for your last week.

So pleased about your OH's news, which must be a huge relief to you.

Thanks HB, yes huge relief for DH, he's back to docs today to discuss what treatment is needed.

I'm WFH this week, just tidying up emails and stuff and arranging for equipment to be collected, so really easy.

Job hunting is my next focus.

An update from me. DH is waiting for an appointment with another consultant. They asked for his current height, weight and smoking status. I suppose this is so they can put him to the bottom of the queue if he's obese or a smoker, flipping cheek. He is neither so hopefully won't have to wait too long now as he's really uncomfortable.

Job search is going ok. I've applied for 10 jobs and been shortlisted on one. I have a questionaire to fill in to get to the next stage.

It's strange not working, and I've not been the easiest person to live with this week, unbelievably bad PMT and then just feeling rough. After 4 decades of this grief, I really want the 'change'.

I need to become even more structured in how I spend my days and am hoping my mojo will be back properly by Monday to plan this.

(((Hugs))) Jazee. It sounds as though life feels a bit unstable at the moment - I hope the feeling of waiting for things to be resolved clears soon.
