  • Me too and it saves a fortune :). The only problem items we have are baked beans, coffee and ketchup - DH refuses cheap versions of these though my sons don't notice the difference so I can get away with it for them :rotfl:.

I buy at least 3 brands of baked beans - the SM own brand cheapies are always used in chilli (with pinto or borlotti and chick peas instead of kidney beans which we don't like) and either big H or Brownstone, depending on the offers for on toast or with brekk or Jacket Potatoes! It's a compromise!

We are v fussy for Tea and Coffee but increasingly, I think any coffee is ten times better if you mix instant with cold water or milk before adding the boiled water - stops that burnt taste.

  • The Tesco own brand ketchup is very nice and exactly the same as Heinz as far as I can tell! I've made a permanent switch.
A small grocery buy from Tesco today. Milk and a few bits of the next few days dinners.

  • Rubbish £4.40 spent on specialist cleaners for the newly stained wood floor and granite! Normally I'm a cheap skate on cleaning products but I figured after spending so much installing I'd best treat them nicely for a while.

New total £117.20 spent of £250 GC budget for September!

  • I have to say i don't buy ketchup anymore, have been making my own from the large tins of puree from AF, but if i ever do, will give the own brand a try. I have to agree on the tea and coffee, only tetley for me - normally the extra strong one and not found an instant coffee i like that tastes like Cos*a. Really annoyed with myself, let the fridge get really grotty (hides in shame) and just cleaned it out. Had to throw a pack of salmon trimmings, a tub of weightwatchers creme fraiche, loads of bananas, a large tub of cream cheese, peppers, carrots. I also have a tub of rollmops - they look really unappetizing - i think they must have been a mistake on the homedelivery - i ordered mussels. Anyone know what these are. Am on my 3rd no spend day and will be spending 2moz.

no help on the mussels but have you already binned the bananas .. if no freeze and use in baking i put the bananas skin and all in the freezer .. there is a cheap local veg shop and they always have slightly gone a bit brown for 19p a lb (sorry do not do the new fangled kilo things )

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. I had a lovely day apart from my bank account being compromised  Have had to order a new card - so inconvenient.

Dinner tonight is a chicken bake in the bag thingy I got from AF. We are having it with wild and basmati rice, courgettes from MIL garden and runners from our garden.

I am onto week 2 of my running - getting quite addicted now! Surprisingly it seems to be giving me more energy to do things

    Have a good evening everyone.
