Bit of a spend today in aldi and Mr M - got 3 boneless pork shoulder joints approx £3 each, hacked one to pieces and had some in a wrap for lunch, very nice. The one I chopped up will do 5 meals for the 4 of us so definitely worth getting, and I will get a couple more before Sunday. Thanks to the person who flagged it up.
So I might go over budget this month a bit, but it will be worth it to have all that meat frozen.0 -
Hi everyone,

Had a great day at the Paralympics yesterday :j :T but spent WAY MORE than I had planned  and also ended up missing the last train home so had to get one to the nearest town that we could and get a taxi the rest of the way home which cost £20!! :undecided
Have some spends etc but won't be able to get my head around that until the weekend.DD had a good first day in her new year except for at the end of the day so that's kind of put a dampener on things.

I use a breadmaker but just for the dough and jam settings. I don't like the bread made in it.
Sage bread buns
500g of bread flour, I use Lidls
300ml of warm water
pinch of salt
tsp of sugar
7g of dried yeast
tbsp oil
tbsp of dried sage. It is also nice with mixed herbs.
Mix everything together in a bowl and cover for 30 minutes, knock back then shape on to a baking tray then leave until doubled in size.
Bake according to your oven, I do mine on 180 degrees for 16 minutes.
If you want them softer wrap straight in cling film or even a carrier bag when they come out. If you like them crispy leave to cool on a rack.
I make 10 with it.
Enjoy them but they are so nice I eat too many of them like you said.:o
Many thanks. That's my Saturday morning spoken for - will let you know how they turn out. Having made pita bread regularly I know that it takes a while to get it right.
Going to make a vegetable curry with the vegetables that are going to be traded in for newer models. The buns need to be nice and soft to mop up the gravy. I might make it medium spicy to justify trying my hand at a cucumber raita ....
All the best to the scrimping crew.____________________________________________

What is an 'elite glitch shop'?
Where do you get the details of a 'wine glitch'?Tried a new recipe tonight. Watched a bit of breakfast tv today and they had a mexican mince recipe. My DD and DS2 won't abide kidney beans but this used sweetcorn instead. Topped with tortilla chips and grated cheese. Clean plates all round
Off to update sig.
Any chance of the recipe please?
Had 2 NSDs Tuesday & Wednesday but had to visit Aldi today for a handful of things.
Managed to 'save' a few meals this week. DH been working away last night & tonight & so I have settled for quick baked potato last night & egg on toast tonight. Tomorrow, we've had last minute invite to friends for home cooked curry so, bonus, another meal 'saved'. Have offered to take naans & poppadoms though.:)

I have a spend of £10.82, which i have added to signature. I have spent more, but am doing my own version of 2nd purse. As I pay mainly by card, 2nd purse gets confusing to me (it doesn't take much), so i have found a system whereby i can stock up on bargains, but not impact on my gc month, which im calling "buy back". I have bought a stack of the morrisons toilet rolls on offer and the pork shoulder, and put a price sticker on them and they are now stored away. When i want to use these items, which probably wont be till next month or after, i just add the amount on the sticker to my grocery total. It just keeps it simple for my poor brain. Im only doing this on stuff that i know is not going to be used for a month or 2 and i am rounding stuff up to the nearest pound, so more money in the bank. I have spent more than i would have liked this month, but am feeding an extra adult, so has made a bit of a difference, but hopefully will come in on budget.0

Hi, quick post to say no grocery spends today
Had a very frugal dinner to use up the last third of a wrinkly courgette, the last olives which were on the turn and the bottom of a jar of pesto which has been open too long. Had with pasta, toasted pine nuts and frozen value peas. OH had spag bol from freezer but I was at the gym and wanted something quick and easy when I got back.Part time working mum | Married in 2014 | DS born 2015 & DD born 2018
