Well a spendy couple of days but a lot was on clothes (25% off TU) and xmas pressies (big tins of chocs only £4 in Mr T).
So, £19.08 in Mr A and £5.60 in Mr S that was actually food. Some stocking up in Mr T but going to start October budget with that as none will be used until mid-Oct at the earliest but I bought it yesterday as I had a coupon about to run out.
So, came in a couple of quid under budget! Very pleased with that but had to mkae a very conscious effort with it being a 5 week month, hoping Oct will be easier!!
See you all on the new thread!0 -
Oh dear first time this year I have tried to keep to the grocery challenge and it just didnt happen! I spent £428 so well over budget.:o, but I was more concious of what I was spending.
Going to post for October, as we have major roof repairs to pay for next month, and things are tight anyway so we will be living out of the cupboards as much as possible.Every days a School day!0 -
Well even though my new month doesn't start until Monday I am declaring now at £448 out of £450 as I refuse to buy anything tomorrow
That is an ok result but as I said before I want to get my spend closer to £400 a month so as to add more to savings.....
See you all in October - onwards & upwards (and downwards for spending!) :T1% at a time no. 40. £8000 (For dream family holiday) 94/100
MFW 2013 no. 62 £10,000/£10,000
MFW 2014 no 62 £8000/£70000 -
Needed milk today and thought I'd take my chance and get lucky with the lotto (not a single number!) so £2.84 spent. Total £215.45/£200
Got to do the weekly shop tomorrow - technically it will be mostly food for the first week of October but I'm going to count it as September as I'm already over and hopefully it will mean it will be easier to stick to Oct budget when I start it. Is that cheating? We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
Still unsure about how much we've spent, but made a delicious chicken dish for dinner with only ingredients we had in - it's from Delia's Frugal Food and is called Poulet Catalane, but I didn't have aubergine or peppers so swapped for courgettes and carrots. So nice and served with HM brown bread
Also have a whole portion left for dinner another night in the freezer:

Came in under for the month (£362.85/£400) but the shopping trip yesterday was rather chaotic as took DS with me with his store-cupboard list.
On the up-side I got him to read the ingredients on a tin of tomatoes (Mr A smart price) and then read the organic italian tin. With some indignance he pointed out that they both contained 60% tomatoes, plus juice and acidity regulator (citric acid). I suggested the extra 50p per tin could wait until he's a rock star and he happily agreed that he won't be wasting money on that :T:T. This is the same young man that registered me on-line for Waitflower shopping last year when we were on holiday and spent £80 on organic meat (my money, of course) and announced he would only ever buy clothing from Mr A. While he was still muttering about Saturdays as we left yesterday, I think we've cracked it. He now has a crate with laundry detergent, cereals, rice, 2 kinds of pasta, tinned beans, tomatoes and puree and a selection of condiments, spices and herbs. I will buy his opening freezer, fridge and toiletries next week and then he's doing it himself from his own budget, from then on.
Needless to say I was concentrating on him so hard I missed some of my things (apples, and the Sunday joint being the most obvious!), so DH will top up while I'm away with work this week. I had to buy lightbulbs and dishwasher tabs (80 for £8 for the Quantom of Solace ones) - who noticed lightbulbs were now so expensive! It pushed my bill up by over £20 but fortunately Sept budget could take it, so I also bought a month's worth of cheese.
One last thing - Mr A put 500g packs of Kellogg's Crunchy Nut Cornflakes on the end of the aisle under the big £2 sign, but hidden behind the stand at the end they had tucked all the 750g packs at exactly the same price. I had checked MSM before leaving so I knew what I was looking for but it took two crusies up and down the aisle to find them!!
Good luck in October everyone (sorry for the long post!)

Declaring at £160.62 / £150. Not too upset about that as it is better than i have done in the past with a budget of £150. Have started on October's budget with a new approach. So here's to another month.SPC 18 Target £200 /0

Last weekly shop of the month for me - £32.88 - so £248.33/£200 is my enormous total - a 20% + overspend
And that doesn't count OH's spending and him constantly asking me for cash yesterday when we passed by the farmers market. We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
