    Hi everyone :)

NSD for me. I will need to pop to MrT tomorrow. DD is having a couple of friends over on Saturday for her birthday, so I will be buying some treats for their movie night.

I owe my 2nd purse for items used this week, so I'm going to be slightly over come Sunday when my September ends. Oh well, I will try harder next month :o

As we are nearing the end of September, if anyone would like to post up their budget to include on the first page of October's thread please feel free.

    Thanks!

Had some rubbish news today regarding my best friend in the whole wide world who I've known for 40 years and love to pieces. Feeling very low tonight. Sorry - not GC-related I know, but sometimes, just sometimes your faith gets tested to the absolute limits :(
Just catching up as I've gone over to the October thread.
Coxy - sorry to hear of your awful news. Sending lots of hugs your way.

Sorry, rubbish at posting this month!
We are moving in two weeks so everything has been a bit disorganised but we've done really well considering (the budget is £400 and my month ends today at.... £436.78).

  • Back from a wonderful (and expensive :o) week in sunny Barcelona! Just caught up, can't respond to everyone individually but hope you are all well and I've missed this forum over the last week!

Coxy - so sorry to hear about your friend, just make sure you're being good to yourself as well as strong for her.
Regarding the "second purse" idea, I've come up with sort of my own alternative.
If I come in under budget at the end of the month, any spare cash goes into a (spreadsheet!) pot. This money is then used intermittently to build the store cupboard.

This is a good idea! As for me, over the last three months we were building up a good bit leftover in our joint household account and my plan was to reward us by turning this into euros for my holiday.

We had a bit of a crisis when I went to cash it in last week and it was a good bit short - basically OH accidentally missed a payment to the account and neither of us noticed as there was more money than usual in there - just as well I'd been doing the GC.

Even worse, he 'fessed up he hadn't saved for our holiday and long story short I had to lend him a substantial amount of money to cover the holiday and his overdraft. He now has a 0% credit card and is going to borrow off it to pay me back (I'd be happy for him to pay back monthly rather than be in credit card debt but he doesn't want to).

He's having an awful time at work and is making around 20% less - he's never been in debt before but not built up savings either and now his income has dropped so drastically he's struggling a bit. I feel so bad for him but also hope he'll now understand why I'm so tight at times as if I didn't have enough in savings we'd have been stuffed :(

ANYWAY sorry to rant. On a GC note, we had a small spend today of around £12 on pizza, salad, courgette, parmesan, coke and cvough syrup on the way home from the airport - OH had pizza, I had pasta and we both had salad for dinner. Will update total when I find the receipt. Will just try to minimise spends tomorrow then OH's experimental week of being in control starts on Sunday :)

  • OH went to asda yesterday and have no idea on his spend, but I think around £10 on Pizza coleslaw and a few beers. Couldnt complain though as he found out yesterday that he has a new job with the police. :) He has been volunteering for 2 years now and its finally paid off (about time too!) also a pay rise so should make things a bit easier on us. He's been revising and working very hard for the application so deserved a treat or ten! Unfortunately now I feel I could be a police officer with all my knowledge from testing him!
  • Lulabelle06 Congrats on your OH's new job - sounds like you both deserve the pizza and beer for all your hard work :D
