    Good luck with it!

From a buyer's point of view, it doesn't look too good when lots of new houses on the street are up for sale when people haven't been living there long, so it might be an idea to invent a sob story of why you have to move, rather than admitting it's a crappy area!

As a temporary solution, can you not get one of those high frequency alarm things that only people under 21 can hear, and it REALLY hurts the ears if you listen to it for too long, so it stops groups of kids from hanging round?

I live in a horrible area at the moment (rented), and cant wait to move into my new flat on Friday. It's a new build street I currently live on, and lots of the families are a little on the rough side, with no control over their kids. they treat the parking spaces as a play ground, and when you try and park your car in your own space, 3 year olds stick their middle fingers up at you!! Not to mention having car window smashed twice, stereo ripped out, bike stolen... I am counting down the days til I leave! I sympathise with you!

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • Pinkshoes, you also have my sympathy :( I lived in an awful area - just like you've described - and it wears you out, doesn't it :(

I even saw teenagers having sex on my car - in full view of their mothers

Yikes! That's awful! I think i would've marched outside and sprayed them with a hosepipe!!

I tried calling the police once when a drunken fight broke out on my street. I normally just let them fight it out, but this time they were really going for it! This poor girl was screaming at the 3 of them to stop. Police said they'd be there, but didn't bother turning up. One of them eventually drove off (drunk), another staggered down the street (drunk or badly hurt!), and the 3rd guy spent the next 15 minutes trying to kick the girl's front door in, screaming every vulgar word/phrase at her that exists!! No wonder the kids in the street have such bad language! Was really annoyed that the police didn't turn up when they said they would. I'm sure that's what i pay my council tax for!

  • I wouldn't have had time to get the hosepipe, they weren't at it that long ;):D

What is it with teens and fighting? They don't seem to understand it hurts when you get hit back!

When I lived in that road, the worst day ever had two gangs of teens throwing home made petrol bombs at each other - and rocks (flint) and bricks.

The teens were always out in the street all night - there were loads of them living with their mothers in two neighbouring houses. I hardly slept for the 18 months I was there because of the noise. If they had fallen out they were yelling and fighting, if they liked each other they were laughing and screaming. There was a particularly heavy frost one night after it had snowed, and they scratched their names and loads of swear words in the frozen snow on my car. I took photos and called the police. They didn't do anything about it because they 'couldn't prove it was those kids' who did it, even though they'd signed their handywork  My car paintwork was absolutely ruined - I had to drive it around with 'f*** off' and worse etched into it.

The mother's didn't give a stuff either. One afternoon (about 4pm) they both spilled out in the streets (in their dressing gowns as they'd been sleeping all day) screeching at each other and pulling each other's hair. It was like the episode of Corrie when Eileen and Gale had their punch up :rotfl:
