I live on a new build and we started getting alot of youths causing nuisance in a small childrens park in the centre. I thought the estate eas perfect when I moved here but these kids can cause some noise. Eventually all the residents complained to the local police and we now have regular police drive by's(at least once an evening), new lighting and some security gates are planned(allthough I move on Thursday). It really has helped. Perhaphs discuss this with your nighbours...Saving needed to emigrate to Oz*September 2015*

We have a bit of open ground near our house and the chavs are always riding motor bikes on it even though we live in one of the nicest areas in our town (they won't "s*it on their own doorstep").
I have contacted the council and police a few times and the police are very helpful on the phone and tell me they have plans in place so that it doesn't become a nuisance over the summer when they are worst...
There is a lot of cost and hassle involved in moving house, but if it gives you peace of mind then it will be worth it whatever, but if this is the house you love so much, do you want to give it up without trying something else...?

Thanks for the suggestions

The village had a dispursal order placed on it about a month after we moved in, there are no groups of more than 2 kids allowed after 9pm supposedly. There have been police wandering around now and again but the kids are wise to it now. There was a group of around 20 hanging around the entrance to the estate tonight and we litterally had to honk the horn before they sauntered away as slow as you like muttering all sorts watching which house we were pulling up at. DH has already been around to one kids house to say we are informing the police next time we have trouble (we had mud thrown off the windows - for fun!) and that kid has backed off but the presence of the police seems like a game to some of them.
Im thinking our best bet is just to call it quits and sell up or part ex.Win £2012 in 2012 challenge 0/2012

You could try to set up a neighbourhood watch scheme. I suspect if there's fgour other houses for sale you'll not get what you paid for it back. It might be a cheaper & better option to stick it out & try to improve the area."Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.

Buy yourself a few thousand large tacks and spread them all over their routes thru the field ;-) Works a treat.0 -
The dispersal order only ever stays in effect for a few months - I speak from experience.
We had our front window broken because of yobs gathering on our estate and then roaming the streets causing hassle to the residents. When we called the police out to get a Crime reference number for Insurance purposes they told us they have to apply for the dispersal orders to be moved and it has to be done through the legal channels.
This meant that although the police can move the yobs on or send them home or whatever - it merely moves the problem to another area - where the residents then encounter the same problems as you until the dispersal order is moved to that area.
We had a laugh at the yobs' expense during the last school holidays as the police had turned out in riot vans with all the gear on and arrested about 15 kids. They then proceeded to escort every youth home to account for their actions to their parents!! and if parents were not at home - they were held by the Police until collected by their parents. Way to go!! Things have improved since then!!
I realise that this won't help you with your dream house experience being soured by these kids and as other posters have said moving house maybe an option - but why should you move bcause of kids who probably don't even live in the area?

Sounds awful NEGirl, hope you get things sorted out. Do you mind me asking where you are having these problems?

I don't want to depress you even more when you sound like you are in a terrible situation, but the house may be worth less than what you paid for it. If you bought it new from a developer, developers normally add a premium to the price because like a house that is 'new' and will pay a little extra. Also, it is only worth what somebody will pay, and if there are 3 others on the street for sale and all the houses are similar, it is the cheapest that will get sold if a buyer comes along and wants to live near this estate.0

I would get out now. We are at the top of the housing boom, when even 'bad' houses can be got shot of. Once the slide starts, the price gap from good to bad will rapidly widen and sink-estate properties will be unsaleable.0
