ok, 6months down the line from buying a new house you realise you made a mistake and moved into a bad area (dispursal order placed on village a month after we moved in, youths hanging around at all hours etc.....long list of all kinds...)
Does anyone know where we would stand on being able to switch houses to another village? This is our first home so im not sure on moving the mortgage, how the developers feel about relocating families etc... dont even know if its possible but im at the end of my rope here and am willing to try anything

I've been in the same position and can fully sympathise with you.
The only thing you can do is sell up and move
Developers won't move you, unfortunately.
You can call your lender and ask them about moving the mortgage - hopefully you won't be tied in.
I moved btw.0 -
If you have bought the house, and are paying a mortgage, you can't just ask the developers of the site, to do a house swop for you.
You will have to put it up for sale, then start thinking about where you want to move to.0 -
thank you both - i thought that was the case and i think others on the estate too are thinking the same as 3 houses are up for sale so far! Oh well, will ring the mortgage company tomorrow and see where we stand as far as moving the mortgage goes (we have really bad credit and were lucky to get this mortgage so i dont really want to have to go through it all again with the chance of being turned down:( )
Thanks again xxWin £2012 in 2012 challenge 0/2012

Poor you! I think you have to 'bite the bullet' and move. Do you have children yet? Do you want them to be brought up in this area? I would move sooner rather than later.Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0 -
looby we have 4 kids - the annoying thing is we have worked so damn hard to get this house, we were up to our eyes in debt when we both first met and worked out of it. We built up a company and have never claimed benefits or anything and thought we were moving somewhere in the countryside where the kids could be kids and have a good start - not likely with chavs and yobs hanging around the top of the estate (which is the entrance to our estate of new houses). I feel as though we have come from nothing to what is in effect our dream house and now its being ruined

Most mortgage companies will now let you port the mortgage to a new property without much hassle although there may be a small penalty involved to cover admin etc. The only big problem you might have will be the actual sale of your property if there are another three currently up for sale aswell.
Good luck."Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

You might want to do a part exchange for another new build somewhere else, atleast then you wont have to spend months trying to sell.0

Good luck.
Plus of course your reason for selling. Often, at least I always did, people ask how long you've lived there & the reason you're selling....0 -
How about speaking to neighbours and seeing if enough of you can rally round and see what can be done as a community. Someone post a flier to everyone on the estate and get suggestions for what action can be taken regarding this ongoing problem.
Get in touch with MP's, Police, Local Youth Workers, Google search on how to deal with kids from ASBO hell. Ask for advice and see what can be done. I know it may seem an impossible task but why should any one of you feel that you should move away from your area???
It is not acceptable what is happening and the matter must be addressed whether you wish to instigate it or not.0 -
Do you have Neighbourhood Wardens? Angels sent from heaven, they are. Contact your local Area Co-ordination office and ask about contacting the Wardens. It's their job to do something about this, and they're very good at it!
