Such a shame. Mind you, I'd stopped getting drinks anyway because of the new system where you have to collect a cup from a checkout first, they're never very forthcoming in my local and a real pain at self-service. I wonder what'll happen in stores without a cafe.0

My local has a cafe but also has a self-service machine. You can help yourself and just show the cup and card when you get to the till or if not shopping pop to customer services who run it through. Maybe they'll bring more machines in, I can see that they don't want people filling up the cafe while drinking their free coffee...our cafe is always packed.0 -
Mine does it the other way around currently - you have to collect the cup from a till with your card, then go fill it up at the machine. It's really awkward when you have all your shopping, and as I say doesn't really work on self-service.0

have they said why they are stopping it?0

Mine asks you to validate your card at CS, and then you can get a drink from the machine; I tend to do it on my way in, and then go on and do the shopping.0

I normally use take away anyway so far so goodally.0 -
Panic not people....you CAN still get your FREE coffee. You're just not going to be able to take up the space of paying customers in the caf!!. If you want a free coffee and nothing else, it'll have to be take-away. And yes....if you use a normal checkout to 'purchase' your paper, it does count towards the minimum spend!!0

Ah, means no free coffee for me: I'm lactose intolerant. I can't have dairy and unless they offer soya milk it'll be a black tea or coffee which really isn't so good. Shame. Was nice whilst it lasted even if I did only take up the offer once or twice a month.0
