Buying a House Next to a School

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the effect of the extra car exhaust fumes and music/radio in cars when children are dropped off and collected. We used to live near a garage and we were surprised by how many people left their engines running and radio's on loud when the 'popped in' to collect a pint of milk. In the summer with windows open this might be an aggravating factor depending on how close the house is to the road.It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

If you have children yourself some day you would be ideally placed to register as a child minder. You could be very much in demand for the hours before and after school

I'm not talking about kids parties, I'm talking adult parties. Load music, drunken behaviour and lots of shouting. Think the school should take into consideration that their school is in a VERY residential area, with the school hall right on the road side. If we purchased a property next to a pub or club then this is to be expected, but we haven't!0 -
Have you found out if the school rent out their hall in the evenings? The school by my friend has aerobic classes most nights and the music is very loud in the summer as they have all the school hall windows open. So it might not be noisy just during the day time0

Until about a year ago I lived opposite a primary school. The school has now relocated to a new site and I miss seeing the kids playing. It never caused me any problems but my road is a no through road for cars and has restricted residential parking only. Most parents walked the kids to school. I wouldn't want be that close to a secondary school.
When i was deciding whether to buy (in 2005) the presence of the school didn't cause me any problems.0 -
There is a primary school at the top of our street & you can hear the children outside at breaks etc - but it's not horrendous - but getting out of our road (cul de sac) onto the main road where the school access is, is a total nightmare before and after school.
Cars double parked, parked on the junction, parked bothe sides of the narrow access road, school buses etc.
You need to plan your journeys to avoid those times like the plague0
