As a shift worker the noise from young children (and it's not just 'normal noise' but horrendous screeching and yelling)

That is normal noise for a lot of young children!

I live several doors down from a Junior school (both of my children attend) and it can get very noisy at break times.

If I worked shifts and needed to work during the day I wouldn't have brought this close to a school.

Sorry OP I think you need to put some serious thought into this :o

I have lived very near a primary school for over 10 years. The only time I notice a bit of noise is when I am off from work and then it is only short bursts of half hour when it is playtime.

    Other than that no problems.

There's a primary school about 200-300 yards up from my house - the only time I ever notice it is if I have a day off work and am trying to have a lay in with the windows open. I have off road parking so no issues there.

    I know it is?!?

That's why I differentiated it from 'normal noise', i.e. generally background noise of everyday life.

At a place I lived at once, I was often woken up by lots of sex noise from next door.

Ahhh... the ambiguities of written communication!

I just wanted to let the OP know how very noisy they can be. People who have never lived near a primary school often think I'm a)making it up/exaggerating or b)a miserly child hater!

As you said, they get very noisy at break time!

Hopefully not an ongoing problem at the primary school though, eh!? ;)

The house where I grew up was quite near (note - nowhere near next door ) to the playground of the local school. The noise was horrendous at break times and used to stop me sleeping after a night duty.

I think you need to think this through very carefully.

No but could be why the primary school is needed ;)

My friend lives about 5 doors down from the primary school we both work at and is really fed up with inconsiderate people parking over and opposite their drive. She says the noise aspect doesn't bother them. As a school we have sent out numerous letters asking parents to be considerate, but there is just no telling some people, who could easily park slightly further away and use their legs a little more!
