You might want to Google 'Angus Barbieri'. He lived for 382 days on ZERO calories - just tea, coffee, soda water and vitamins - in Maryfield Hospital, Dundee in the 1960s. He lost more than 20 stone.
    so not Zero Calories then?

None in tea or soda water but coffee's about 5Kcal a mug isn't it? Probably as close to zero as makes no odds really.

Low carb, low oxalate Primal + dairy

I've been doing my own modified version of the diet for a few weeks now, but because I am a wimp I've just tried skipping breakfast a couple of days a week, and not eating until lunchtime. Obviously I have not lost loads of weight! but my weight has been drifting downwards rather than upwards which has got to be a good thing. I think the main difference has been to point me towards eating less overall, cutting down on snacking, but without doing anything too drastic which I won't stick to. So we'll see how it goes, but at the moment I'm happy!

Tea is about 5 as well and there are some in vitamin tablets as well, close to zero isn't zero.

I think you are being overly pedantic.

P.S. PG tips reckons there's 1kCal per cup while most sources say 0.

  • Just out of interest, to those that have lost weight doing 5:2, when/how often are you weighing yourself? When does the weight loss show? Is it immediate, or after a couple of days after a fast day?

Has anyone used body analysis scales, rather than 'normal' scales to quantify what the 'weight' actually is, i.e. fat/lean mass/water?

Livestrong says 5 and Sparkdiet says 3 same as coffee. Zero is an absolute nothing pedantic about that.

He sometimes had milk and sugar in his tea.

Weighed myself a few times but not too much as don't want to get hung up on the losing weight as I think the initial weight loss depends on how much people have spare, did quite well to start but now it's levelling off.

Ordered some body analysis scales and waiting on them...
