Oh, so nobody (permit or not) can park there before 10.30 or after 11.30?? The particular street is always pretty near full of cars all day...

As per my other post that's not correct. This type of restriction is to stop commuters parking all day but without restricting proper use of the parking. It's likely to be near a popular office area and also have something like a park or shops near by. Therefore commuters struggle to use the spaces due to the hour in the middle of the day needing a permit but users of the park / shops still get parking for the normally shorter time that they would need it.

Yeah that would make perfect sense as it's 5 minutes walk from a tube station so would attract commuters if not restricted, but is beside some small shops that people would want to park at for shorter periods.

I'm hoping this is the case or I'm a bit screwed for finding somewhere to park!!

Im not saying you are wrong sg24, but I would have thought if what you are saying were the case they should have a sign to TSRGD 660.6 times altered accordingly ?

Just looked at street view and it does seem that parking is allowed there as there are bays marked out. I kinda jumped the gun a bit there before looking, just the sign threw me completely.....thats what you get for living in the sticks !

    So I stand corrected.

Oh I agree there's more appropriate signs they could ( and should ) have picked - hence my query to my local council. The cynic in me suggests it a PPC style ploy to get money from drivers by giving them tickets because they are so confusing !

http://www.wandsworth.gov.uk/info/473/street_parking-zones should have an explanation - or you can ring them? http://www.wandsworth.gov.uk/a_to_z/service/308/parking_zones

I'm confident that outwith the 1030-1130 period no permit or parking charge applies.

I think the term "out with"threw the sassenachs on here ;)http://oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/outwith

I agree, I understood it after 20 years living in Scotland but it doesn't seem to be used much south of the border.

And I agree that what you and the OP think is correct, I've seen this in other places and outwith the posted hours people park as much as they like.

Sammi is 100% correct. This is a typical restriction to discourage train commuters and office workers from dumping their cars all day.

Sammi is correct in a later post but not the one you quoted.
