Permit Holders Only 10.30-11.30am. Can I park here?

I'm going to have my car with me in London for a couple of weeks and am trying to figure out the parking system in force around where I'll be staying.

There's a road that states "Permit Holders Only. Monday to Friday. 10.30-11.30am" I do not have a permit, nor am I eligible to apply for a visitor's permit.

Am I okay to park here out with 10.30-11.30am for free? I can move my car and go park it in Tesco for an hour each day.

Seems legit... But don't want to get caught out!

    Simple answer is NO

Without a permit you would certainly get a ticket.

What the sign is saying is that permit holders can only park there between 10.30 - 11.30 am. Anyone parking there without a permit or outside of those times will get a ticket.

So why have they written the Monday to Friday 10.30-11.30am part if you need a permit all the time?

Your question doesn't make sense but I'm guessing you're asking if you can park there WITHOUT a permit at any time EXCEPT 10.30 - 11.30 ?

We have these very confusing signs in Brighton but the straight forward answer is YES - you can park there without a permit just as long as you aren't there for that single hour.

He's wrong but I think it was the slightly confusing wording of your question that threw him !

That is just they way the council have made the restriction, the space is only for permit holders mon - fri 10.30 - 11.30.

As stated anyone parking there outside those times or without a permit will get a ticket.

Sorry for the bad wording! I mean I'd be parking here but moving the car elsewhere at 10.29 each morning and bringing it back at 11.31 each morning.

So the car won't be there from 10.30-11.30am Monday to Friday.

    That's okay?

I suppose it's designed to stop all-day parking by commuters.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Oh, so nobody (permit or not) can park there before 10.30 or after 11.30?? The particular street is always pretty near full of cars all day...

But that's not correct. It means that between the hours of 10.30 and 11.30 you MUST have a permit to park there. Any other time you can park there with or without a permit.

I know because I asked Brighton & Hove Council about a road that had signs with EXACTLY the same wording and they assured me I could park without a permit outside the stated times.

Thats the way ive read it.

If parking was available throughout the day other than those times there should be another plate with the times you can park there.
