Great post. Goes to reinforce what I always suspected.

Would you be kind enough to do a check for the forum? Please open the handset and check if there is a little white indicator which may have changed colour and let us know.

I am very interested to find out if there was any indication of moisture and, therefore, in Vodafone's eyes, any fault whatsoever will not be investigated or if they are even worse by claiming water damage when there is no indication whatsoever.

    Thanks.

    Edit:-

I would also send an email with a pdf copy of Samsung's reply to someone senior at Vodafone advising them of the shoddy work being done (or not !) by some of their employees.

Vodafone Rep - are you taking note of this thread??????
  • Perhaps consider the preview feature before posting. My eyes hurt!

One thing to consider is that Vodafone use a 3rd party (Samsung authorised) repair centre. They may be less inclined to repair a handset which has been damaged by water as they can have their license to repair Samsung handsets withdrawn for contravening warranty conditions. Samsung need not worry about this and may have just repaired your phone as a gesture.

Thing is, they don't have to have changed for the phone to legitimately be liquid damaged.

In this case they should have supplied the customer with some other proofs. Surely they had...rolleyes.gif

Vodafone will supply proof of the damage in the way of a photograph. One thing I will say, the photograph may not mean much if you are not an engineer.

Even if they did send the photo, the fact that the actual fault was with the usb port shows what this 'proof' is really worth even for an engineer.

You can't get out of the fact that Samsung repaired the fault that was causing the problem and whether or not the handset had any liquid ingress, it wasn't what stopped the phone working.

It's like taking a car into a garage because it won't start an the garage refusing warranty because it had a faulty rear light.

The fact that there is liquid damage (assuming you believe the engineer) invalidates that warranty. The liquid damage does not have to be related to the fault found for the warranty to be void.
