Claiming against Tefal's non-stick 'lifetime guarantee'

I don't rate non-stick coatings (as used by Tefal and others). For really decent pans, try anodised aluminium. They're not cheap, but they actually will last for decades."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Hi fluffnutter (love that user name!) - are the Circulon pans anodised aluminium?0 -

These are the stainless steel pans i bought nearly 30 years ago. Still going strong.0 -

I'm in a stalemate situation with them over a saucepan. About a year ago the coating started wearing off leaving gouge-like strips at the base of the pan. It's gradually got worse so I finally got around to contacting them (the pan is several years old). It's proving the most frustrating situation. They say (after looking at the pan) that I'm at fault as I've used metal utensils in it. I say I have absolutely not, which I am 100% certain is the case, so my logic says the pan must be faulty.
They won't budge but I'm inclined not to either because I know I've not done anything wrong. It's making it hard though as you can get no information as to who is 'in charge' in the Tefal arm of SEB Groupe, not even from the public corporate stuff. At the moment my complaint has gone to the CSS (?) Manager but so far no response.
Anyway, rant over - just wondered if anyone has had any similar experience with Tefal and if so how they got on.[/QUOTE
We had some expensive kitchenaid saucepans and the non stick started coming off after six months. They rolled out that old chestnut of us having used metal utensils on them even though we have never used them, always plastic. I think that is their standard get out clause. How can anyone really prove they have not used them. It is always going to be the customers word against theirs.0 -
A slightly relevant aside:
If anyone has pet birds, you must not use non-stick cookware. If the coating gets too hot or wears off (as has happened in this thread, but it can happen to any pan, not just faulty ones) then it releases fumes which are toxic to birds.
Many birds have died needlessly from this.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

If you're going to spend a lot on pans, don't buy any with non stick coatings, they never last, not even the most expensive ones.0
