Well you could hire a van for less than £100
I would tell them that you did try to contact them before the auction ended etc sorry you didn't wait for a reply before bidding but the listing was ending etc but you never invisaged that delivery would be this high.
Just be appologetic and tell the truth. If they neg you they neg you - not much you can do about that other than cough up £150 for delivery! (and Berkshire to Kent... is anywhere from 2 to 4 hours drive... OH does the run from Oxford to Rochester every week so for whoever to deliver I would have thought it would be a full day...)
Ebay isn't all bad but for something this size I would have thought looking only at auctions a little closer to you would be a good idea to avoid large delivery costs

Maybe they didn't reply on purpose so they could then hit you with the exhorbitant delivery charge.
I'd rather risk a negative than line someone's pockets, but as soolin said, the fact they didn't reply should have rang warning bells.0 -
In ebay - if you type in 'courier service' or 'van man' you can arrange someone to collect it for you. I have used this before when I wanted some furniture collected, they will give you a quote - postcode to postcode. That could an idea for you0

Don't forget though that the seller is perfectly entitled to refuse collection. The courier they arrange might be able to call for the item at a convenient time, whereas any courier arranged by the buyer might be less able to fit in with the sellers wishes.
Also, if you do arrange your own collection be prepared to still pay some of the packing charge,as I assume couriers won't just pick it up unwrapped or unlabelled so the seller will stay have to pack or at least make it secure.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Don't know what you were paying on ebay for one but this place gets them regularily and they sell for next to nothing £5/£10 sometimes last time I was down there (which was about a year ago).

Scooters will be from baliff seizures on personal property so will most likely be operational.
They're in Tooting if you can get there from Kent - keep an eye on their catalogue they tend to store them up and then sell a load in one go.0 -
How long before the auction finished did you contact them for this information?
I'm often surprised by the number of questions I get literally minutes before an auction ends.
I'd want to sort out why they didn't get back to you before the end of the auction before deciding what to do next.

I first asked about an hour before it was due to end and said I lived in kent - then a sent a second one telling them the town which i got no reply to - then I sent another telling of my town after it had ended.Comp wins 2013:160 finish quantum tabs, 2xtickets private screening of prisoners(Jake n Hugh 2)

I wouldnt even attempt asking a question an hour before end of auction...
the seller may not even be logged on to their computer at that time.0 -
they were online as they asked where in kent? and if I had not got a reply from my first question then I would not have placed a bid in the first place.Comp wins 2013:160 finish quantum tabs, 2xtickets private screening of prisoners(Jake n Hugh 2)
