I said I was going to send it via a courier. Hadn't decided which one to use.

I just find it really odd that 3 of us have received near enough the same message!

Should be fine so long as the address isn't in Millfield, New England, Dogsthorpe, Welland, Orton, Hampton or Westwood :D

I can understand the OPs' worries about this. These type of items are notorious for being scammed, and eBay/Paypal are quick to refund the buyer.

I think the morale is, don't sell items like this on eBay. Its not worth the risk or the associated worry about whether it will actually arrive, and whether they will claim SNAD and send something different back. Yes, there are things that the seller can do to protect themselves, but that is not the point - the problem will never end if the responsbility is always totally with the seller, the scammers will keep right on scamming.

This is the message I got:

"hi just paid by paypal. when can i expect it to arrive? dont forget to send it recorded for our security. this is high value item and i dont want to lose it. please do not include any invoice as it is a bday present"

So probably best not to send it then?!

Every eBayer has to start somewhere. You once started with zero feedback too.

The way I see the message is, it is a birthday gift and possibly being sent direct to the recipient hence the reason for not including an invoice otherwise they would have just removed the invoice themselves.

The buyer may have set up a new account to purchase your item so the person who is receiving it can not look through their feedback to see how much they paid for the gift.

I would say it is safe to send but as already suggested, send Royal Mail Special Delivery or by courier (Hermes or Collect+) which may be cheaper but make sure you add on the extra insurance cover.

Absolute rubbish. I sold loads of these refurbished two years ago. Got a job lot from an auction. Not one problem.
I don't agree with all the advice to photograph serials, as that proves nothing. I had 50 of them, and could have used the same photo as "evidence".
Incidentally, I had nothing but hassle from Gumtree listing them. Had lots of chancers phoning and texting.
The only decent advice has already been given. Post trackable to the paypal address.

Do you agree they're the same ??

I also had exactly the same, sold an Xbox last December.. Listed it on Thursday afternoon, sold it during that evening, immediate payment by paypal - received an message that evening asking how quickly it could be posted and do not include an invoice in the packaging as it was a present.. posted it on the Friday afternoon, and left feedback... by the Monday the paypal payment was on hold, even though I left tracking details on Ebay/Paypal it took me months to get them to release the money - had to threatent paypal with criminal/civil proceedings before it finally arrived back...
