I'd buy a house, a BMW 5 series, and a massive TV and PS3, putting 100k or so into shares, take a trip to NYC, and stash the rest in a saving accounts. How much can you save Olympic ChallengeApril – 8.5%, May – 17.2%, June – 29.5%I GOT BRONZE0

£200k into precious metal stocks, £200k into oil stocks, £200k into consumer stocks, £200k into tech stocks, £200k into index trackers - all with global exposure. No need for cash as I already have piles. I wouldn't change my spending patterns either.
No need to emigrate as I already spend six months (spring/summer) in the UK, then fly to New Zealand to spend the other six months of spring and summer... such are the joys of telecommuting!"Money is truthful. If a person speaks of their honour, make sure they pay in cash."0 -
I too would head off to the tropics.
Im considering doing it already, thats what we are working towards.
we estimate the property we would want would cost about 60k cash.
call it 30k to get business up & running & to live on
then we would have a small income from that enterprise ( a organic farm) and look to move bigger
then the rest we would spend on rum & flights for family & freinds to come see our dream
I dont need a mil, 100,000 would do! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
i would invest it in my health and welfare by getting the hell out of this excuse for a country and buying a nice smallholding in the carribean, fresh food, fresh air, and no f******g tony blair
:rotfl: too true..the last 20 yrs..what a sxxt hole...PARTS of this country have become !!:rolleyes:0 -
Firstly my full annual allowance of £225,000 into a SIPP for my retirement.
Secondly £350,000 for a decent house where I live now
Thirdly a new shiny, fast, heavily depreciating car. With no more than 2 seats.
Then I'd split the rest between deposit accounts, balanced investment portfolio and some into private equity/venture capitalism.
With my retirement sorted, and no mortgage I could happily work knowing my money was all mine to waste.Anything posted is not given as advice but to help with a discussion.0 -
Blow ten percent on holidays,a new car etc.,use around 200K upgrading to a nice detached house, keeping ours for renting. We could manage that in my area.
Then ask my s-i-l to advise me where best to put the money- she's a qualified IFA but doesn't advise family because she says she is more knowledgable in the upwards of 25K to spend areas!
An income of 30-40K a year would be enough for us to live on quite happily without working- with no mortgage that would be no problem...would have to do voluntary stuff thoguh, to keep my mind ticking over..
Oh how I'd love the chance to see if my brain would rot living a life of leisure:rotfl:Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
Balance 19th April '07 = minus £27,640
Balance 1st November '09 = mortgage paid off with £1903 left over. Title deeds are now ours.0
