They are only available as an aldi special and not permanently in the same way the lidl ones are.0 -

Same applies to Lidl, both have these as specials, for about 3 years now, every 6 months or so. The fact that they do means that there is twice the chance for all of getting hold of what is usually a limited stock. (which sometimes sells out early on the first morning, especially at Lidl)ac's lovechild0 -
I use a solar battery charger that I bought from Maplins to charge AAA, AA , C & D cell batteries. I bought it for £7.49 when it was on special offer, but it's now back at its full price of £9.99.
It's this one:

It works really well, and being solar, costs me nothing to run. The only drawback in the design is that, unlike some other models, it needs four batteries of the same type to charge each time.
If you've got south-facing window-ledges to put the charger onto, it's free energy!0 -
I have a cordless phone at home that takes AA batteries and I leave it in the stand when not in use so the batteries are fully charged, if I'm going out and taking my camera, I swap the batteries over between phone and camera so I take the ones that are fully charged. My phones a BT(Siemens) and will accept any AA batteries (NImH, alkaline etc).0

Just popped over to Maplin and bought the solar charger ! Looks great ! how do you know when the batteries are charged ok ? I am using the Lidl 2500 AAs.... many thanks0 -
I hope the information on the packaging of my Lidl AAs is correct when it says the capacity will increase over the first 5 charges - I put them in my portable radio and they've only lasted a few days with the same level of usage which the previous 1600mah set would keep going for months!0

Same, put them in the camera and they lasted less than an hour...0
