    I got some of these a few months ago when they had some. I got 2 packs of the 4 AA's, they are excellent, they hold the charge for weeks without use too. Lasted ages in my Fuji S602Z which uses 4 at a time. I wish I'd got more at the time but I was sure how good they'd be. If I get a chance then I'll go back for some more.

    mAh for batteries are like megapixels for cameras and watts for stereos.
    My first set of AA NiMH batteries where 1500mAh Uniross. They lasted longer than the 1800mAh I bought later.

    If quality doesn't matter, you can have a FAMEART bundle containing 8x2300mAh AA batteries with charger for £7.99 + shipping at 7dayshop:
    http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=101211

    Note that my 1800mAh batteries quoted above where... FAMEART... bought from 7dayshop :)

    The charger quality also matters: if you're going to buy an el-cheapo quick charger, then it doesn't matter what batteries you have: you will ruin them within few dozen charges.

    Great price - but please can anyone tell me where to get a recharger for Ni-MH batteries OTHER THAN AA or AAA size? I keep reading that it isn't safe to charge these in my old recharger for NiCads. Any guidance much appreciated!

    You can get them, but what I found to be easier is to use a C or D type battery caddy which allows you to insert a standard AA battery into them and you can then use them as C or D type batteries as appropriate.

    Obviously you don't get the capacity of a true rechargable C or D type battery but you appreicate that, they work well enough:

    * AA batteries are around the 2100mAH mark
    * C batteries are around 4000mAH, and
    * D batteries are around 4500mAH.

    errrm, Lidl are famous for making themselves invisible by telephone, and my DQ search for Kent (there are many local stores around me) yielded only:

    Lidl UK GMBH Food Retlr

    Mainland UK Only
    Tel: 0870 4441234
    Tailend Fm Deans Indust Est, Deans, Livingston EH54 8SE

    If you try Saynoto0870, there are a handful of stores listed. I reckon the only way is to visit your store.

    Great batteries though. I got a pack of AAAs today and they are 900mAh, a 12.5% increase on the last set I got from there.

    just a quick note - i dont think you can charge NiMH batteries with a Ni-Cad charger (except ofcourse the dual type charger) or vice-versa so you would probably need a new charger, but may be wrong

    Word of caution - I bought the rechargable batteries in aldi and they are the wrong size. Ie they are about 1 mm larger than UK rechargables - so they don't fit in some equiptment. Just a word of warning and no idea whether it applies to lidl too.

    I've just bought a load of the LIDL AA batteries. They are slightly longer than standard AAs, but seem to fit OK - you just have to compress the spring at the negative end a bit more forcefully than usual.
    I am using them to replace the rechargeable batteries which came in my Binatone DECT phones and are only 800mAH and run down alarmingly quickly, causing the phone to produce a loud and painful beep in any long conversation!

    I have the component shop charger mentioned above and it is brilliant.

    I also use the cheaper NICD rechargables from poundland (mainly for kids toys) - also a bargain.
