Suppose if you're the sort of person who keeps a car for 10 years, it makes sense with the long warranty.

I'd rather spend half that on something ridiculous like an Alfa 166 3.0 v6 and the other half trying to keep it on the road!

Not much motorway driving - 200miles a month, maybe 300...

We use it mostly for driving about town and going to work. We do about 7000 miles a year
    Have a look at these:

    Chevrolet Cruze
    Citroen C3 Picasso
    Fiat Bravo
    Ford Fusion
    Hyundai i30
    Kia Ceed
    Mercedes A Class
    Peugeot 308
    Renault Modus
    Renault Scenic
    Seat Altea
    Skoda Roomster
    Vauxhall Meriva

I went wrong with a Focus.

Although reliable, it was positively the cheapest, plastickiest, blandest, most noisy mess of a car I've owned so far.

Then to cap it all off, it hydraulicked in 4 inches of water.

Although that was a major PITA, I'm pleased it's dead in all honesty.

And in case anyone thinks I'm anti-Ford -- I'm not, my new car is a Mondeo.

I just realised rather quickly that I chose the wrong Ford. Small Fords are nasty, cheaply made plastic carp.
