Eu warranty

I purchased a samsung tv in dec 2010 in July this year it blew up. Knowing the guarantee had expired I paid an independent repairer to fox it. However I since found out about the EU warranty so I phoned Tesco Direct and asked them about it, I was told that I was covered under this warranty and after filling out a claim form I received a cheque for £260..........I paid £136 for the repair! I was also told that my tv was covered for 6 years under this warranty and that they are looking into informing customers about it. Dont just take for granted the standard 1 year guarantee, claim for it. It paid off for me:j

Wow a whole six years under the EU warranty, that's brilliant, thanks op.
And with Tesco spreading the word, the whole of the EU will soon know about it.

    Dear Fishing Love,
this needs to be published more widely, don't you think?

Can you possibly provide more information on this six year warranty?
    A link would be great.

Don't worry, I will wipe OP's memory so it stays a secret :D

Good result for you, though, particularly as you had paid for the repair first. If my memory serves me correct from a previous topic, if you'd already done that without having contacted Tesco first and given them the opportunity, they may not have had to do anything.

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

Along with all this sarcasm, somebody could at least introduce op to our equivalent, the Sales of Goods Act.

I would post further information but it's not so easy on an iPhone. There are some guides on MSE.

I've added the link into [post=41543332]Post #4[/post] of the Read Me sticky.
