Oh and BTW i would never have hit him inside the workplace, although i very much would have liked to.

And do not think about doing so anywhere outside the workplace either. Your employer can still have an interest in what you do outside work.

If it was me and I am a girl and work didn't take it seriously and I assume they are only doing this to wind you up, say 'hello darling' back and ask is he wants to go out! That may shut him up!

Women are more used to men harassing them than men are; we have ways of dealing with the idiots that don't usually involve smacking them one, no matter how much we want to!
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

When they do anything, stop dead. Take out your notebook, write what happened, where it happened, the date and time and all witnesses present. Then put the book back in your pocket/bag. If they ask, tell them that you have been advised to note down every instance of harassment.

Either that will stop them, or you will have a long list of incidents for your grievance when you put the next one in.

Or better still, have your mobile/ipod at the ready in record mode!

Can you keep a record of it? Hopefully ,fingers crossed it will stop now the manager has had a word though.
I would write down the dates, times, details of witnesses, what you said - ie please can you stop wolf whistling as it is offensive, etc etc.
Just keep a log of it in case you need to go further.
    Best of Luck

That is exactly what i intend to do, i have a blackberry with a 32gb card in it, this should be enough to leave on record for 4 hours while i am at work each day

I know when the sailor boy comment was made as i was outside coming in just before it was time to go home. the other comment would have been between 5-5.30 am as i had not long started. Will find out the chances of security having it on disc...

It's not the school playground - threatening to hit someone (and then teling your manager about that threat as well) is just wrong.

Of course you have been in this position and delt with the pressures haven't you..? Saying and doing are two different things. It's not everyday i get harassed by a same sex colleague. Most at work who i spoke to reckon it would come under sexual harrassment

Yes it would do - so lodge a formal complaint.
