You will be pleased to know Tigerlily that today I have ordered an application form for an OU course as I think I will need to add something more to my degree to have a shoot at a long term good career.
So I am getting plans in place to boost that CV even more and I am looking on Reed and Monster everyday for jobs.
Plus, I am going to get in touch with the DWP helpline.:beer:0 -

Sounding very positive there phil. If you do an OU degree I hope it'll be along side work?0 -
I thought you agreed that what you need is not more qualifications but proper work experience? That's what everyone's been saying to you for the past couple of weeks. Or will you do the OU course in your spare time while you're working?I am not stubborn. I am merely correct.0

I really don't understand studentphil ... you haven't completed your existing degree have you? If I am right you should be sitting your final exams very soon - if I undestood from your long threads!! What degree are you doing BA, BSc?? There is absolutely no need to do another degree. If your finals are coming up soon, shouldn't you be revising and concentrating on the exams before getting ahead of yourself?
What exactly do you want phil??

I am not looking at the OU until an 2008 start which gives my time to find a job and see if I really need anymore qualifications or not, but it there as a last last reserve.
I have not finished my existing degree yet but clearly as it is considered a bit stupid by some then I might well need to look at adding another skill to my CV but this is only part of my real emergency plan.:beer:0 -

I am going down the job route and I am not looking at the OU until 2008 and that is to do along side working and it really is my emergency back up for if I find my degree (soon to be finished) does not offer me enough skills for what I need.
There is no harm in keeping your choices open.:beer:0 -
As to what I want to be, at the moment anything that pays me a wage that looks to offer prospects to a bit of advancement. Which whlist I know that are no real promotion chances with this university job it will give me a good career start.
Looking longer term I want to be a job that like being a training officer for a company or maybe into something like Facilities management or even H and S at a push.:beer:0 -
You haven't said what degree you are doing, or is it a secret - BA? When do your finals begin? If you have a good degree there is no need for you to take up another - why are you thinking of looking at OU 2008 now?!
One minute you are desperate for a job you fancy, you apply for other jobs at the same time worrying about how many job applications you will have to apply for before you get a job offer, and if you don't get offered a job then it must be that you are being discriminated against because of your disability!0 -
