Was on Facebook this evening and just doing not an awful lot and see one of the adverts in the side window. Now I know there are enough of the date type adverts and also the usual acai types but saw on for www.glassesoutlets.co.uk and had a look at the website out of curiousity. The prices were way way too low in my opinion and looking at the whois

I am surprised Facebook is allowing this? Surely this damages their brand in some way although with the amount of Facebok users they are not too bothered but to allow a moody chinese site to advertise which has only been online a month, seems its another way for them to peddle their wares.

I use FB PURITY to rid me of all those irritating ads FB insist we have. With the added bonus of not having to view their awful Timeline feature they insist we have.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I hate Facebook as it just seems to be about advertising and corporate snooping under guise of conducting our various kinds of loving lives, family, friends, romance.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

Facebook have sold their soul!
Facebook never had a soul.
They had one aim. Get a large group of people believing the site was for them to reconnect with people and share photos and experiences.
Then sell them out to advertisers (their real "customers) to make money.
Personally although I do use the site I don't see adverts due to Adblock and FBpurity.0 -
Huh. Judging by some of these replies you would think they're being forced to use Facebook.
I can never understand why people will complain so frequently about a free website they don't have to use. If you don't like it, don't use it!'til the end of the line0 -
We dont technically HAVE to use a bank, we could get by in life storing our money in our mattress. But the bank provides a service and we have a right to complain if that service is not the way we want it.
Simarly, the OP can vent as much as they want about the fact Facebook are claiming to provide a service but in fact could be misleading members with adverts etc, as well as selling personal details.
I agree it is taking blatant advantage of the members, and trying desperately to earn more money for something that is fast going out of fashion. Advertising is one of their biggest revenues, so they are unlikely to be fussy about who pays themHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Generally speaking you pay for a bank. In some way, shape or form, you end up paying. And they are accountable under financial rules and regulations. The bank's products are financial services and we are their customers.
You don't pay for Facebook. Advertisers pay for facebook and they are their customers. The product on offer is us users.
Facebook can be quite "gung ho" at removing stuff; a friend on mine had her company (small business) logo removed because it featured a hand drawn picture of a man in just shorts (she has a fitness/body-building related business by the way). It was deemed inappropriate because the guy was topless.
And yet there's a lovely group on there at the moment with 40,000+ members liking it called "dead baby jokes" and, well, it appears despite multiple complaints, reports and lobbying, is still there and they're not doing anything about. (having clicked, I dont see many jokes but I do see an awful lot of abuse and hat speech which is against the rules) the fact the title offends so many you would think they would step on it but, no, still seeing friends complaining about it a week later.
*sigh* Facebook can basically do whatever they want, and we can vote with our fingers and opt not to use the site."So long and thanks for all the fish" :hello:0
