I don't have a problem with people asking for most things, and that includes cars, caravans, and even laptops, since I've seen so many of these being offered over the last year or so. In fact only 3 days ago an "as new" just 1 year old Dell laptop with DVD rewriter and wifi etc was offered on my local board from someone who had "just upgraded". Sadly I was too late seeing it to stand a chance

What does get me is the totally unbelieveable, totally made up stories and mostly lies and/or nonsensical requests they give as reasons as to why they want a laptop. 99% of the time a desktop PC is the perfect solution and a laptop would only be detrimental for the "purpose" required. From playing games (yeh, right) via disabled children to arthritis and can't sit at a desk. So the only solution is a laptop - bull$hit. I don't sit at a desk - I use my PC from my armchair. Now I have a cordless keyboard and mouse (previously used 3 metre extension cables), my PC is many feet away and my monitor sits on a small side table at the side of my chair.
I used a laptop at work and it was very useful when out and about and since I was in the computer industry on the engineering side, it was a disgnostic tool and many other things.
However, as soon as I got back to my desk I invariably reverted back to the desktop PC that was in my office OR fitted a full size keyboard and external mouse to my laptop and connected it to a large CRT monitor.
Made it so much easier to use and the display was just so much easier to see from all aspects - brightness, contrast, clarity, resolution etc..

Anyway - WANT of the day - surely this can't be beaten ...

does anyone have a working hot tub that they no longer want in their garden or know someone getting rid of one as my wife would love to have one

prune, clean out flower beds etc.)

If you know anyone or are interested yourself please send me an email.

    Thankyou.

ROFLMFAO!! It's so tempting to contact them and say "yes...here have mine", and actually arrange for them to collect it JUST to meet the type of twisted greedy person who would be so crass as to ask for something like that in the first place. When they arrived I could say "Oh i'm so sorry, someone else picked it up just an hour ago" (as I have had someone do to me in the past!! not with a hot tub needless to say!)

    And tonight's classic.....

    Wanted -
Hi I need 4 dining chairs for my pensioner mum-in-law as the ones she
has are rickety and in danger of collapse. As her table is mahogany she
would prefer the same or similar dark wood. Thanks

Should I point her towards the local furniture shop /antique fair ??? ;)

This one made me chuckle on our local one over the weekend...
    Hi,
I am looking for a laptop for my 76 year old mother who just needs one for
typing and accessing the internet. I already have software for it, just need
a reasonable laptop with a cd drive. Any body have one?

Go on, throw an original Vista in for them too ;)

I saw a fabulous set on the Antiques Roadshow last night only £20,000 for 8 chairs! Perhaps they would match!
Oh sorry they only need 4!
