Did anyone read the Metro today? There was an article about a freecycle group who 'saved' a wedding after various accidents seemed it would have to be called off. Lovely story :)

See thats a nice story of people clubbing together and getting the job done.

I wonder though how many of the people posted:

Wanted: Free Evening do tickets for wedding :D

    morning all.
bit of a hoohaa on local board at the mo, we all got instructions that wanteds are now limited to 3 a month, and we should post who has recieved our offereds when we post a taken message. several people are saying 3 a month is too harsh and it should be 3/4 a week maximum. personally since some nice person showed me how to file wanteds away from other emails i'm not bothered, but i've been quite surprised how strongly people are defending there right to post lots of wanteds, lol. I just think its all a bit sad. someone suggested the idea of having a score and you can only post as many wanteds as you have offereds. as theres quite a few people who are just posting wanteds (and have never offered anything) i quite like this idea. will be interesting to see what happens.

Not suprised that the wanters don't like the idea of a maximum of 3 per month!! If they're wanting to post 2 or 3 wants a week, then it makes you wonder whether they're a) downright greedy or b) simply getting freebies to sell on.

Apparently it’s because several people use there accounts, or they ask for friends a lot, that’s why they need more wanteds. These seem to be the main reasons cropping up anyways. I agree with Pam though, a lot of it is down to greed. Not everyone, but some definatley seem to take advantage.

    Totally pointless.

Did your group have a vote or did the unelected mods force this upon you?

It was decided by the mods, as they are sick of getting complaints about the number of wanteds going through. In a way I’m a bit gutted, cos some of them are quite amusing. Personally I think it’ll just lead to shopping lists being posted, several items at once. We already have people using different user names only posted wanteds but all very similar.
