Taking someone with you for a medical. I have no-one

They can't find you Fit for Work without you attending the assessment so it means that ATOS are recommending that you be placed in either the WRAG or the Support Group. Your file will be looked at by a DWP decision maker who will decide what to do.
Unless you have additional evidence to send, there is nothing you can do until a decision is made on your claim.
With regard the appointment, ATOS have seperate dept that schedule the assessments, often without sight of the ESA50. What's happened is that an ATOS doctor has now looked at your file and decided the assessment is not needed.
Good luck0 -

Thanks for the reply. I had decided to wait a few days before going to the jobcentre and asking to speak to someone - as I made a right show of myself the last time I went! The stress has made me like a lunatic!
I'm not going to exhale quite yet though as I don't want to then have to face crashing back down to earth if they put me in the WRAG group, which I know has happened to lots of people.0 -
Hi,
As I posted yesterday that I now don't have to attend my assessment tomorrow I was informed that it could be due to possibly being recommended to be put in either the WRAG group or Support group.
I just want to know beforehand what my next step would be if they put me in the WRAG group instead of Support?
Would I have to write to them to appeal or is there another procedure I'd have to go through?
I'm wondering if I would just have to stay in the WRAG group if that's where I'm put and then apply again after a year?
I just want to be forewarned about the next step, should I need it as I may just go into a complete panic otherwise and not know which way is up. My nerves are shot and the slightest blip just sends me crazy0 -
The same thing happened to me and they said after reading the medical reports I would not need to attend a WCA, I was put in the WRAG, I know you feel this is not right for you but its not as bad as you imagine, I saw my advisor in late may early June, as far as I can remember! And she was really nice, I don't have to see her again untill the end of Oct.
They won't force you to get a job they just talk to you about options and if they can help you in any way, I was told in the letter my appointment would take about an hour but I was there for 15 mins max. But of course if you feel it's something that's not right for you you could always appeal the decision, but it may not come to that and they might have put you straight in the support group.not all on benefits are scroungers and don't need to be bullied!0 -
ESA (C) is contribution based - savings and war pension will not be taken into account.
This is now limited to a year if you're in the WRAG (work related activity group) after which a means assessment would take into account savings/other income to see if there is entitlement to ESA (I) - income based.
So definitely still worth applying.
Occupational pensions, and suchlike, can reduce the amount of even contributary ESA. The first £85 per week is discounted, then 50p is lost for every £1 over this amount.0 -

I know occupational pensions can reduce ESA(C) but OP is in receipt of a war pension and I have read that this is not taken into account for ESA(C) - have you heard otherwise ?0 -
No, I just wanted to make it clear, to anyone else who might be looking in, that even contributary ESA can be affected by other income.0

Chris Grayling' told the House of Commons (in an answer to MP Frank Field) that if Atos say there is no recording device available then claimants must 'be offered a later date' (Hansard Question 117849 on the 17th July).
I know the OP doesn't need it now but it seems you do have a right to your interview being recorded.......Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

I'm a local Cllr, and there's a team of 4 of us (I'm on all 3, one's on Town/District, one's on County only, one's on Town only) that will happily be a companion for you.
You may have left it too late, however phoning your local Cllr will give you a definitive decision as to whether such scheme operates in your area. The 5 of us that run this are the only 5 that either don't work (retired/parent of young children) or run our own companies (myself and 1 other, therefore we can get out of the office/arrive early/late).
We're an unofficial scheme that runs, although all of the Cllrs know about it.
Give this a go this morning.

This is wrong and cannot be enforced has been said 1000 times...
No legal right to it being recorded at all, they do not provide the equipment and stop money if not attended...
There is no comeback, it's a recommendationI always take the moral high ground, it's lovely up here...0
