Taking someone with you for a medical. I have no-one

Hi,
People keep saying that you should take someone with you for the ATOS assessment.
I'm worried (what's new?!) because I have no-one to ask and as for getting someone from a disability centre or CAB I've got no chance because firstly there is no disability centre near me, and the CAB in my town is impossible to get to see unless you go there at the crack of sparrow and wait for hours. I can hardly brush my teeth in the morning let alone get washed, dressed, brush hair etc and be in town for 9am.
Plus, I would imagine these centres are so busy and have so many people to see with less and less resources, I would expect that they need lots of notice. My medical is on 16 Aug.
Has anyone out there had to go to their ATOS assessment alone, and did they feel that it would've gone better if you had someone with you?

There's a 'Car Companion' scheme in my area for people who have difficulty using public transport and also the companion will accompany people to appointments.
Just wondered if you had something like this in your area?#TeamCarter

To be honest I've got no-one. I've become increasingly depressed these last couple of years and find that I've alienated myself from people - (too depressed to see anyone, depress coz I don't see anyone).
:(So I'm going to have to go on my own. I never see anyone, except my dad and I've not even told him half my problems as I just feel like he's another 'eyes rolling to the roof thinking "not again, whingeing about something or other"0 -
If you were older Dazza somewhere like Age Concern may have volunteers, or do you have something like a Church or Sally Army you could ask.
Maybe your Gp could suggest a group, he must have been asked that before.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

I wouldn't be able to see the gp as I can't ever get an appointment with her in less than a month. We're like a third world country trying to see a gp these days0 -
It use to be like that in our Doctors, by the time you got in to see them you were already better.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

It's absolutely ridiculous isn't it. You can see one sooner if you're prepared to see someone you've never seen before. But when you have chronic health prolems I prefer to see the same one.
I think the receptionists are told not to give a sooner one as I've never been able to get to see my gp within a reasonable time. It's always approx a month from when I ask, then as soonas I get out I remember everything I forgot to say in the surgery!0 -
I went to an Atos medical on my own & wished I had taken someone with me,just so I had a witness. Everything I couldn't do they changed to their advantage. They also wrote I was a bloke! I am appealing. To make things more complicated I have now had a stroke so I don't know whether I will be able to manage at the appeal tribunal.

Oh I'm sick with worry now. I think I've had a headache FOREVER with the stress. I had to change my appointment as they gave me a 9.45am appointment despite asking for an afternoon. I've also asked for it to be recorded as I can't take anyone with me. But from reading in various sites, apparantly they often say they don't have any recording equipment.
I hope you win your appeal. What do you reckon about all this worry possibly causing a lot of problems for people. The stress and worry is unbearable. That can't be good can it?
My friend went to appeal. I didn't realise it's like a court. She sat in front of a judge and doctor. Luckily for her she won, so here's hoping...0 -
Not sure it's worth the hastle for you from everything you say about ESA, with savings and a War Pension, I doubt you'd get much if any ESA anyway would you?
Are the problems you are suffering from related to your War Pensionable injury, do you get a SAP as well as your War Pension? Maybe you ought to ask foe a review of your War Pension?Opinions are like bottoms - We all have one, just some stink more than others
Service Attributable Pension - War Pension - War Pensioners Unemployability Supplement - War Pensioners Invalidity Allowance - War Pensioners Comforts Allowance - War Pensioners Mobility Allowance - War Pensioners Child Allowance - Housing Benefit - Council Tax Benefit0
