Without being rude or nosey though, with a 40% War Pension minimum, and savings? I didn't think you'd get much if any ESA, as your income would be above or near the threshold? I don't claim anything, but I get the unemployability supplement.

ESA (C) is contribution based - savings and war pension will not be taken into account.
This is now limited to a year if you're in the WRAG (work related activity group) after which a means assessment would take into account savings/other income to see if there is entitlement to ESA (I) - income based.
    So definitely still worth applying.

I've just been listening to a woman on the radio talking about a voluntary site called 'timebank'. It's the sort of thing where people do jobs for each other, you know giving their time, ............ You iron my shirt and i'll take your dog for a walk, or .............. you wash my car and i'll go to Tesco for you. Anything you can sort between yourselves.
Op do you think if you googled and there was one near you you could say if they go to Atos with you then you could do some baby sitting or something.

    Hi,

Just wanted to ask of anyone who's been for an assessment.

Did you have to take your meds with you? I have a leaflet that instructs me to take 3 different pieces of ID and to take all meds. Is that necessary, or would I just be able to take the prescriptions up with me?

If the leaflets says 'take all meds', then take all meds, surely that is clear enough ??

I don't have prescriptions for my medications sitting around except when I need to top-up, do you?
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

Yes it's clear enough. I just wondered if anyone had done that and then not be asked to show them.

It also says you can get your taxi fee paid but you need to get a gp letter - which is a farce bearing in mind I can't even get an appointment about my health problems in less than a month. My assessment was 2 weeks from receiving their letter. So my point is that this leaflet is filled full of crap and I didn't want to take up a load of meds if they weren't going to ask for them.

Yes, I do have a copy of what prescriptions I take, the pharmacist rips this half of the prescription and gives it back to me for reference

There is no legal right to have your medical recorded, any decision to allow it is at the discretion of the DWP and ATOS.

But given what Grayling has stated in answers to Parliamentary questions one can always use that as leverage as well as advising Atos that if they don't record your assessment after everything Grayling has said you will make a formal complaint to Atos and advise your MP (who hopefully isn't a tory!) about Atos's underhand behaviour. I suggest using the letter that someone on these forums kindly reproduced as your first line of attack against this outfit.

I wonder if MIND might be able to help?

    Or the Depression Alliance?

I wonder if it's possible to get to speak to someone from the community mental health team.

I also don't know your gender, but someone from Women's Aid might be some use...

Womens aid do not help with medical issues, they are for helping with domestic violence and can offer support if someone is or has been at risk, they can offer outreach for people affected by abuse...

When my time comes to be summoned before them I shall take my own recorder with me - in the shape of my mp3 player casually clipped to my shirt! If they should ask what it is I would say it was to play soothing music to help me relax prior to this interrogation!

    Hi,

I had an appointment for my assessment with ATOS this Thursday. However, I received this today:

"We recently asked you to attend a medical assessment on 16/8/12 in respect of your claim to ESA.

Thank you for sending us a copy of a medical report (is that the ESA50?). This report , along with our file, was passed to our Medical Adviser and it has been decided that we now have enough information and you do not need to attend an assessment at this moment in time and your appointment has therefore been cancelled and your file returned to the DWP"

Question: whilst I'm relieved that I don't have to go this Thursday, and not wishing to sound like a doom merchant - but I'm wondering what is going to happen next and if I should do anything. My concern is that they are going to put me in the WRAG group. Is there anything I should do just yet, or do you think I should wait to hear if the DWP write to me and then do something if necessary?

I also don't understand why I'm suddenly getting this letter. Why did they just not read all the paperwork first and then decide to either send for me or not. Instead I got an appointment sent out within days of me sending in the ESA50 which then had to be changed to an afternoon - causing me all kinds of stress and worry as it was so difficult contacting them.

I know that I'm a worrier but the letter is not very clear other than letting me know that I don't have to attend this Thursday
