Ebay item - misleading description - refund?

I would not expect to be reminded about return addresses on my mail as it is all 2nd class bog standard. However if a seller pays extra for recorded on the belief it gives them more protection I think a post office counter clerk should make sure that either the return is address is shown or that the relevant bit from the orange sticky form is attached. Recorded is not kept at the recipient delivery office as long as normal mail, so it seems odd not to check that there is an address to return it to if it fails to be collected.
I am completely against any sort of nanny state as well and am often criticised on here for expecting people to take some sort of responsibility for their own actions- however a return address for a recorded tiem seem logical as it is there already on the orange slip that the sender is asked to fill out. I have my sons post here (his post keeps getting stolen if he has it delivered to his address as he is never there and the post boxes get broken into) and he has received 3 recorded items this week, 2 of which have no return addresses on - and none of which have been signed for.
Where do you draw the line though? This is a 95p service, which nets the Post Office 6%.
I've heard - many times - people saying, "do you think that's stuck down ok? Have you got a bit of tape?"
Much less of a queue if only people would do their own thinking.0 -
Why unfortunately? Why should they bother to point out something obvious? We are too used to being nannied.
I also find it remarkable that someone who has been using ebay for over ten years has no clue about buyer protection. Then goes ahead and makes a purchase for £80.
En, just to reply to this.
I have never been "ripped off" in this way and so I possibly have become too trusting of sellers in general as I have mainly had a positive experience.
Its great that so you are "well informed"....I never used to use credit cards either so everything came from my paypal balance so I assumed I was covered that way.. I thought it may be different for credit cards.....0 -
As the item was sent to you by recorded delivery, the return address should be on the original envelope somewhere. This may just be the house number and postcode (but that's an address!)
My post office insists on this detail as they need a return address in case they are unable to deliver it.
Hi,
No I have thoroughly checked the envelope (several times) and there is no sign of any address detail.
I have sold (books) on ebay myself and always have a return address label on there just in case but in this case all there is is my address and the recorded delivery label on there - nothing else.
I have emailed ebay - awaiting a reply to take this further and send this back..

And another thing - I dont need to be "nannied" (if you are referring to myself in this post) had I have known the correct procedure then obviously I would not have posted on here in the first place! I usually am very "on the ball" with things like this - but on this occasion I wasnt - eh, shoudl I apologize for that?
How come there is always someone who has to be a smart and cant simply help another person out? Too much too ask!
Its great that so you are "well informed"....I never used to use credit cards either (esp... for ebay purchases) so everything came from my paypal balance so I assumed I was covered that way.. I thought it may be different for credit cards.....hence my post....0 -
No - the nanny bit refers to the comment on Post Offices pointing out no return address. Not made by you, so clearly doesn't apply to you.
Nor have you been ripped off, as you have had a refund.
If you have a glance at the massive info on ebay re buyer protection, or seller, you will be fully clued up.
Sorry if I'm not touchy feely enough for you, I was just puzzled how someone buying for ten years had no clue what happened if you were not happy.0 -

Eh, yes I have been refunded but it wasn't looking good at one stage....I was being ripped off as the scumbag was chancing his arm and for once justice prevailed and he didnt get away with it......
And also if I want to post here that is entirely up to me AND what I thought the forums were for...are they not?- I wanted some personal experience from people who knew the score exactly (especially as I had already stated in relation to using credit cards on ebay, which I have never done before....) - am I supposed to apologize for that or something? What a joke...its just as well you dont work in customer services then isnt it... LOL
If this has been so annoying for you - why waste time posting and griping - move on and do something more constructive instead....LOL
You have a serious attitude problem and Ive just wasted 10 seconds of my time even replying to you...and by the way I dont need anyone being "touchy, feely for me" - LOL
What an attitude problem you seem to have....
