Unfortunately no, before tacho's had been thought of, in fact, before HGV licences - you just needed to be 21years old
I wrote the the Chief Constable but got the reply that as it was now sub-judice he couldn't comment. Always hoped they "kept an eye" on the bent tw*t tho.
My boss told me I was wasting my time and said he'd pay the fine - don't remember getting any points, must have been before they'd thought that up as well.Would imagine it stems from this:
http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/documents/digitalasset/dg_070566.pdf
Where you would wave your hand up and down to warn other road users that you intend to slow down.
He wouldn't have been able to see any hand movements ( I can think of an appropriate one:rotfl:) he'd attached himself to my back of my truck.0 -

Yes, you should have stepped on the anchors and let him go up your rear end. I once saw a patrol car go up the rear end of a woman in Preston when she stopped at a pedestrian crossing and did a fair amount of damage. I stopped and gave the woman my name and address and told her to use me as a witness if she had any problems but I never heard any more. I was determined two coppers in their patrol car wouldn't gang up on her. One's a different matter.

What has Angus done to upset you?0 -

There I was driving a large van along a winding, undulating country lane (NSL but 40 mph for the van) when over the hedgerow I spy a blue light. Obviously a police car secreted away in a field gateway.
Glanced at my speedo, about 38mph, no problem, or so you'd think.
After passing plod-on-wheels, I kept an eye on my mirrors and he came out of that gateway and tucked himself right up my arris like Sterling Moss on acid.
With hindsight I really wish I'd stepped hard on that center pedal because of what happened next.
After following me at 40mph (keeping in the blind spot) for about a mile and a half, we approached a built-up area and a 30mph sign. I eased off the accelerator and passed the sign at about 27/ 28 mph.
Next thing you know, super cop swings out from his hiding place and guns his Ford Anglia around me, blue light flashing and mee-maw cutting through the tranquility of the village.
Did me for 40mph in a 30mph limit - the lying !!!!!!!!Ford Anglia? - yeah, it was a while ago but I can hold a grudge cant I
One only has to peruse the archives of pepipoo.com to find multiple examples of coppers lying, coppers changing there stories, coppers even fabricating stops, as well as misuse of equipment.
The Lti2020 laser gun has been banned in the USA because of a mass of evidence it is unreliable, yet the authorities here continue to allow its use. The GATSO has been shown to be inaccurate by one of the worlds leading experts on short range radar, yet the court threw his evidence out.
The chances of you being prosecuted for speeding have nothing to do with what speed you were actually traveling at. IN the pepipoo archive theres even cases where court officials have clearly BACKDATED papers submitted too late by the police, which of course is not only perverting the Course of Justice by also Abuse of Public office.
The entire speeding enforcement industry is based on dubious laws, dodgy equipment and people prepared to lie to keep the money rolling in.**** I hereby relieve MSE of all legal responsibility for my post and assume personal responsible for all posts. If any Parking Pirates have a problem with my post then contact me for my solicitors address.*****0 -
Oh yeah, definitely about the money and filling the quotas.0

Surely (Shirley) warning a motorist that they are speeding is the duty of any road user.
Whether or not there is a camera around the corner is beside the point.0 -

5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
My favourite hand signal is the middle finger. Heh heh. I often see motorcyclists doing it to lorries as they almost knock them off.
Maybe we should write our own version of the Highway Code.0 -
I think speed cameras are dangerous because you have to brake really really hard when you see them if u r speeding, and tailgaters have to brake even harder (possibly crashing into u). If a car is going really fast then they might skid.
I think cars should just have limiters fitted so they can't go faster than 70mph
I do not speed by the way, ever. My motto is: "Safety First On the Roads. Think SLOW - Safe, Limit, Offences, Walk"0 -

The "I was pulling my seat belt down hand signal officer (Ala Gareth Hunt)" would be best.0
