Do you flash to warn of speed cameras? Now there's a hand signal.

Very recently, we had a thread asking who flashes their headlights to warn of speed traps.
I used to but gave it up in favour of moving my right hand up and down on top of my dashboard to warn other drivers, and today I had two other drivers warn me in the same way in Bromsgrove.
I think this is very good way of warning other drivers to slow down. Anyone else been warned this way?

If I am not mistaken it is actually against the law to flash your lights to warn other motorists of this kind of thing. In fact I am sure there was a case against a motorist doing exactly this.
So the use of hands does seem like a better method and have seen others do this as well."I think I spent 72.75% of my life last year in the office. I need a new job!!"0 -
Yes, I've had this "warning". I thought they were waving a greeting at me! No, I wasn't speeding either.0

Would you mind pointing out in the Highway code where it shows this hand signal?

The universal hand signal used by truck drivers for decades is to give a thumbs down.0 -
I point my thumb over my shoulder then extend a finger in the air above my head and twirl it to give the impression of a blue flashing light going round.0

The whole idea of this speed camera stuff is to get people to slow down. So if someone flashes another driver who subsequently slows down it supposedly saves a life from a speeder. Nothing to do with revenue...surely!!!0
