I have relaimed charges from my bank. The customer services dep wrote to me a few weeks ago giving me the charges back. I forgot to tell the court as there was no mention of the court in their letter.

Then this week I have had a letter from their legal department offering me my charges back with instructions to cancel the court case, which i then did. They have put the money in again.

What should I do? Give it back? I am tempted to put in a savings account, that way if the ask for it back I could give it to them. But what if they dont ask for it back? How long should i wait??

Personally, I'd send it back, so that it can be used to pay another claimant. We are trying to occupy the "moral high ground", so we cannot really behave like the "morally bankrupt" banks and CCCs.

As you know where it came from and why, it isn't "unsolicited" and wouldn't become yours after 6 months.

It's a moral decision: you must know what is right.

this has happened a couple of times now and i shall say to you what i said before, there are those people who already think anyone claiming back charges are just money grabbing idiots, so if people do cheat the bank out of money then this is only making those people right, as has already been said before you know the moral thing to do , if you keep it you are no better than the banks cheating money from folk, do not lower yourself to that , and you also have to consider that if the bank finds out and you have spent it you will be in deep deep trouble,
but it is up to you:confused:
:rotfl: it's all making my head spin!!!!!!
  • Having successfully claimed back my bank charges i have now discovered that they have put the ammount into my bank twice. Does anybody know the legality of my situation with regards keeping the money? If I spend it am I liable to face consequences and is it my perogative to tell the bank of its error?
