Supermarket Pet Hate

One of my pet peeves is doing the shopping on a saturday and the shop is full of retired/elderly people shuffling along doing their shopping........they are not at work during weekdays so why not do it then?
We don't have huge supermarkets here with wide spaced isles so this is an issue and there is no online shopping either and they close at 8 or 9 (or earlier) by which time there is not a lot of food left either so going late can't always be done.. I know what you are saying but sometimes thats the only time relatives/carers have to take them shopping. I don't think most elderly people enjoy shopping when its really busy.

Oh, online shopping, how I love thee0

What about them just making sure their trollies are not in the way of other shoppers so that others can go about their business without having to wait 20 minutes for them to pick up and examine every whoopsie on the shelf?
Its a trolley, it takes up a certain amount of physical space and when you're in a supermarket they do tend to get in the way a bit!
Its not the end of the world to have to wait your turn, and I expect 20 minutes is a major exaggeration.

I've also been in the queue when someone has coughed behind me and not covered their mouth and with them being so close, I've felt it on the back of my neck! As for Aldi putting things straight back into the trolley for bagging later. I just do not understand why anyone would have fragile items anywhere but last on the conveyor. - Problem solved.
One other pet peeve is BOGOF on items either fresh & not suitable for freezing or previously frozen items. Please just make them half price. Alternatively there always seems to be just one left on the shelf - did they deliberately start off with an odd number.Truth always poses doubts & questions. No, it means a bloke has been sent in for something by his wife......men who rarely frequent shops are oblivious to offers.0 -
What's wrong with having some manners like me? I said "excuse me". Wow! Sorry that bothered you.
My pet hate:
People who don't say "please"
The phrase you are looking for is "Excuse me, please".
It's not hard. Just be polite and you may find that all of a sudden, you are not offending so many people.
Please and thank you.....simple manners. And the best thing is, they don't even cost you anything!"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

I've found the opposite. You send them out with a list, they get to the supermarket and all of a sudden they think that they are the ultimate shopper and come home with some obscure brand of pickled herring that was only 20p a jar because it was on special offer. It doesn't seem to matter that no one in the household likes pickled herring. He's just delighted that he's got something so cheap and I've still not got the missing ingredients for dinner lol0 -

Or it could mean that some people don't want to take something just because it is "free" when they know they won't use it before it expires and is disposed of anyway.
I do my shopping online and Tescos always alerts me to the special offers I've supposedly missed, often including the BOGOF items and I know full well that there's no point adding any extra to my order simply because I have no need for it and I don't want to buy another freezer to accomodate some of this stuff!0 -

Add to that retired/elderly doing their food shopping between 1pm and 2 pm during the week, usually when I am trying to nip in and out the shops in my lunch break.
please oh please let me remember not to do all these things when I retire.0
