i might be mistaken i believe u can also transfer funds from another institution via BACS as well0 -
Right - just checked my account and my cheque was FINALLY cashed today. But to date I have received absolutely no documentation whatsoever.
I don't know what should I be receiving (I don't have a current account with Barclays) but I'm pretty sure I ought to have at least a piece of paper saying where my money's gone to!0 -
I would assume we'll receive confirmation of the account being opened detailing the account, a receipt for the cheque, a few leaflets etc.0

This is my problem. The branch refuse to take cash. I was told before opening the ISA you could pay in cash but now everyone denies this can be done - opening the account was not easy because of this!! I want to pay in the money my son pays in rent. My own bank is in Scotland and the Barclays branch are trying to get me to open a current account with them to pay money into and then transfer to the ISA - surely it can't be that complicated!! I have emailed Barclays direct about this but have had no reply. Even the ISA helpline are giving conflicting info but it does'nt make any difference if the branch won't take the money!! HELP0 -
Mrs Hound (see my postings above, doing a find on hound/harryhound will take you directly there) had a similar problem.
She gave in and opened a current account.
Barclays may suggest it is something to do with money laundering, but I'm sure the limit is well over 3K (Anybody else know ?)
My theory is that Barclay's needs the money for their "ABM..........." adventure,
cheaper than giving a slice of the action to their hedge fund friends ? Their loss could be your gain.

All I got was a promotional booklet and a welcome letter which included the ISA account number and a couple of paying in forms and prepaid envelopes.
Nothing to admit they had £3000 of my money. The account was opened within a few days back in March for the 2006/2007 tax year. However I sent them a cheque on the 7th April for the current tax year and the money was taken from my account last night, so just over 2 weeks. Not bad I suppose considering the backlog.
Now I have leant them £6000 of my hard earned money, I'd really like a piece of paper from them admitting they actually have it.
Anyone know if you can get a statement by going into a branch?0 -
I put £3,000 into a Barclays ISA at the end of March for the 2006 financial year and now would like to put another £3,000 in for 2007. Can anyone tell me how much I can expect (roughly) in interest by April 2008 please? Thank you0

I opened an account on 26th March for 2006/2007 tax year as a non-barclays customer. Had to fill in their form again, even tho' I had printed it off online and taken it in.
Gave them a cheque for £2000 and haven't heard a thing or had my cheque cashed yet. Can't rally the enthusiasm to chase them up, but am keeping an eye on this thread for info.0 -

If you put your £3000 in at the end of March, and then add another £3000 at the end of April, by the beginning of April 2008 you should have about £375 interest if the rate stays at 6.5% all year.If I had a pound for every time I didn't play the lottery...0 -
