Barclays Tax Beater Cash ISA - experiences so far (merged)

I have complained. Doubt I'll get a reply, but made me feel better...:D0

Well I sent off my 14-day cancellation letter yesterday (on LittleVoice's advice) so just waiting now. It is so annoying, I'd much rather they just sent me the cheque back uncashed than open the account, send me the docs, add the backdated interest, and then close it and send me a cheque for the balance. GRR!
Only tiny good thing is I was planning to put the money in Egg's ISA when I get it back, but if I don't get the money back for another couple of weeks I might as well see if the base rate goes up and any new best buys appear...0 -
I think I had a lucky escape .....
...was told to come back the following day to open an ISA, they said we dont offer appointments but it would not take longer than 30mins. Sat for 45 mins in Barclays waiting the folllowing day and then gave up, seems like people had got appointments or jumped the queue anyway somehow.
... I made a complaint and have since got a standard reply letter that contradicts what I understood to be the process. Then I read the comments on here so am looking for a new home for my money. Its advertised as the top rate at the moment, but I aint conviced it is the best or will stay that way.:j0 -
I complained online about a fortnight ago. Got a letter in the post saying 'we're looking into your complaint' within about a week, but not a word since...
Wasn't this great 6.5% rate supposed to be Barclays way of getting new customers? Somehow, I can't see that working...0 -
Hi all, I opened my ISA with Barclays on April 4th for the 2006 tax year and have heard nothing since, the cheque has not been debited. When I went to the bank to ask there was nobody available to tell me what was happening!:smileyheaMagenta0

Just had an e-mailed response from Barclays in response to my complaint of yesterday.
"For us to be able to progress with your complaint could you please contact us again providing us with the following information:
Your full postal address, as held on our records please."
You what??? My address as held on THEIR records. They've already got my sort code and full name (which is pretty unusual). So why do I need to tell them the details again?
Still, to continue with this farce I've sent them what they asked for. I wonder what ludicrous information request I'll get tomorrow....:mad:0 -

Egg has just been taken over by "Citi" - perhaps the Egg service will become even more wonderful ? (the American's don't have a good reputation for "doing irony").
Egg was created by Prudential who still own M&G, see my posting above.

Still no news from Barclays, it's been 4 weeks since DH took the application form to the branch.. next time i will wait and see what feedback is before jumping on the bandwagon. A lesson learned.0

I opened an taxbeater ISA for the 06/07 tax year on 28 March 2007 and gave them a cheque for £3000. I had no reply from Barclays so I went to the branch and they assured me it was due to a backlog and the interest would be backdated.
My cheque was finally cashed this morning(April 20). I just hope that they will keep their promise and pay the interest from the date the ISA was opened.0 -
A cheque cashed - remarkable!!
I gave them my cheque four days before you and the money still hasn't been taken yet :eek:If I had a pound for every time I didn't play the lottery...0
