    Agree with amn.

What HMRC says and what lenders accept are two different things. Many lenders do indeed insist on seeing the issue letter at the same time.

  • It only took a couple of days for mine to come in the end. I think they just like to be awkward. Have just requested this years too. Fingers crossed it won't take long.

You can get your tax calculation as a PDF when self assessing online, according to HMRC page page titled "Understanding and Checking your Tax Calculation":

"Sometimes you may be asked for your tax calculation by a bank or other lender as evidence of your income. You don't have to ask HMRC for a paper copy. If you do an online tax return, you can print off your tax calculation yourself. It may not show the form number - SA302."

I take a copy of mine each year but you can access them easily enough. When you log in to your HMRC account choose Tax return options and pick the year you need. You should see a link for VIEW RETURN. If you follow this link you will be given an option view your calculation for your latest submitted return after which you will be given the option to view and print full calculation.

Sorry Peejam - this is of absolutely no value for a mortgage application.

SA302s will need to be sent out from HMRC with a covering page.

We got faxed SA302s which were OK for Santander but not for Natwest.
It took 3-4 weeks for the printed ones to come through as the first two sets never arrived.
  • Fair play to HMRC. I've just called them to get the SA302s for a mortgage application and I was immediately put into a voice-recognition system. I was dubious, but I said exactly what I wanted but it then put me straight through to the person who handles them, who answered within three rings. I was amazed!

When I asked for the last five years' statements (just to be sure), they said they would print them right now and post them out today. The whole call too less than four minutes. It was far less agro than I was expecting.

I just rang 0300 200 3310 - spoke to an adviser within 3 minutes (blimey, it's Saturday morning!) and she agreed to fax over the last 3 years worth and also put them in the post (just in case Halifax won't accept faxed copies). Will update shortly as to whether received or not..

WOW - I got it faxed through within 1 minute :j
  • Can somebody tell me - do these SA302 statements show the Class 4 NI due, or just the Income Tax?
