why is he doing this

to cut a long story short, husband had an affair and left after 14 years of marriage, that was last year. we managed to sell the house and have no children,i have now moved on and rent an apartment and im happy, but my ex wouldnt sign the divorce papers so i left it at that. i dont know where he lives now but he knows where i am because he has changed his banking address to mine,i get credit card statements visa debit cards throught the post and i return them to the bank.we never had joint accounts and i dont bank with his, can this effect me in any way or should i keep returning his post to the bank.he was a control freak so im guessing he is letting me know, he knows where i am.thank for reading.

I'd be very tempted to use his VISA debit card. He's still your husband and what's his is yours...

Caveat; this may not be the right thing to do. ;D

After a certain/reasonable period of time of informing them that they have the wrong address, I'm sorry, but I'd stop sending them back to the bank. Just shred it all.

Of course it's not the right thing to do - at worst, it could be viewed as fraud.

Back to the OP, I would write to the bank's fraud department and explain exactly the details you have given us. Tell them that you want a block on the post... the only problem is they may put a marker on your address (not you) to indicate that it may be used incorrectly by some individuals. That could then mean that there will be a need for a manual check each time you apply for credit in the future to check your ID. BUT, this marker should prevent your ex from using your address.

We kept getting bank statements to our address - right address wrong person, so not quite the same situation. We kept returning them to the bank, it wasn't until we opened a statement and phoned the bank that they stopped coming. I would (if you havent already) speak directly to them. This shouldn't be happening.

write 'return to sender' on the envelope and pop them back into the postbox. He will soon get the hint.

I had the same, it was only when we opened the mail and completed a "change of address" slip that they stopped. The bank wouldn't speak to me.

Id be tempted to do the same and forward it to his parents.

Why is he doing it? Because he can, it's as simple as that. Check your credit score with all the credit agencies on a regular basis, start divorce proceedings on the grounds of his unreasonable behaviour.
    Take control.
