London Olympics Panic! - Britain's Useless Athletes Unable to Win Gold

Britain currently stands at a dismal 21st placing with just 2 silver and 2 bronze, when by now the target was to have won 3 gold medals. Britain's current performance compares very badly against the showing of 4 years ago in China when Britain won 19 GOLD Medals!, and came 4th in the medals table, winning the first Gold on Day 2 and now we are into Day 5. I could speculate when individual athletes such as Bradley Wiggins will win a Gold, but they keep letting us all down, time after time, it really will be humiliating from Britain if we have not won a single Gold medal by Friday.

Who are you aiming this at? Joe Botts was quoting an article written by Nadeem Walayat.
Here's the end of the article:
"Don't worry folks, by the time it's all over, Britain will have won at least a dozen Gold medals (fingers crossed), many of them directly attributable to immigration. But will it all have been worth the £10+ billion price tag ?
The olympics are a huge waste of time and money, where contrary to the hype of generating economic growth, instead many tens of thousands of tourists have chosen to stay away from the UK during prime tourist season so as to avoid the olympics circus, just as I warned would transpire before the Olympics began.
In conclusion, I just do not understand the point of watching drug infested and genetically manipulated persons competing against one another. After all the Olympics are a pagan Greek religious festival which is where they should remain. It would be far more useful if each of the winning athletes on the podium's stated what what they had, had done to enhance their performances to enabling them to win a medal so that us mere mortals can also jog along at 50 miles an hour!

What a miserable sod. Why is it some people are only fixated on how things cost?
I've enjoyed it immensely so far, although am really trying to get some more tickets as my next and final event to watch is next weekend's mountain biking which I'm really looking forward to.0 -

i could have enjoyed it immensely watching it in another country. whilst being smug at the thought of how much it cost them not us.0 -
We've done well in rowing today and we're not too far way from South Korea in third place in the medals tally. Given that we are moving into track and field events and the higher weight categories in weightlifting, etc. I can't see South Korea winning many more medals. It'd be an amazing achievement to come third overall, given the competition.0

I've just noticed what the atheletes get as well as their medals .... most countries give their athletes quite a sizeable payout when they get a medal, but we just put their face on a stamp, with no dosh ... is this good or bad.... suppose it reduces the need to cheat possibly if you're hard up??0

They also get a Gold painted postbox in their home town! The Gold bugs on here would love that.0

I'm sure that even if the athletes don't get a sizeable payout (it would seem to be somehow wrong and detrimental to the sports if they did, as it does in the case of the ludicrous payments to football players), they earn plenty of money after the event in promos, etc.0 -
