Is continuing to write complete crap in another daft article.
So whilst thousands of athletes of both genders have competed in well over 200 sports at the London 2012 Games, however only a fraction of these events actually count towards falling under the real Olympic Games and even there these events should be permenently held at Olympia in Greece instead of being trapsed around the globe at huge tax payer expense.

Apparently it's not a real Olympics because theres no Chariot racing!

He forgot to mention that all the competitors also wore clothes, unlike in the ancient Olympics.

This Aussie article is interesting. Says GB invested about the same in our athletes as France and Germany (£1.2 billion over 4 years) yet the results were really different (they each have 11 golds compared to our 29)...

I'm not usually nationalistic but today I feel a sense of pride in us being third best in the world!

In case you haven't seen it yet, and to get you all in the mood for a spot of lip-sync tonight, here's the Adidas video featuring team GB singing Queen:

That'll do wonder for our cheese exports, if nothing else.

I think we should make more use of Vickie Becks in promoting GB inc, she worked wonders with the boy from Leytonstone, he gets everywhere. :)

Ok, we now have the football season just about to start, but the distaste for the mordern day game has made me feel how much am I really looking foward to it, or not.

The modern day premier League feel grubbier than ever after watching real sporting heroes.
I have now banned myself from watching the judo girl looking up at the sky telling her now dead mother how she loves her, it's just impossible watching it without watering up.

What a wonderful London Olympic games

I've been saying pretty much the same thing.

I've gone from a having a real interest in football to not giving a monkey's. I hate players doing the dying fly when an opponent blows them a kiss - it's just cheating and it's looking increasingly camp when you see how other sportsmen and women deal with problems. I'm thinking of the rugby player (Euan Thomas?) who managed to leave the field without a stretcher with one of his feet on backwards, the cyclist who got a 6" piece of wooden track through his calf, finished his ride and still made it to the olympics. I think one of the 400m runners in this years games broke his leg during his heat and still got to the end.

The FA must be worried about the impact of the Olympics especially since the GB team performed quite badly and there's already hoardes of kids turning up at cycling, rowing, athletics clubs all over the country to try out interesting new things.

I went to the marathon yesterday. It was brilliant - a fun, friendly atmosphere with good support for everyone involved regardless of what team they were on. I've never seen athletes performing at this level before and from the TV always had the impression they were superhuman robots - they're not - they're relatively ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

i was pretty bloody surprised that we managed to deliver the games competently at all, let alone successfully. may be i should be less pessimistic, but i was expecting transport carnage, total confusion at events, flaws in the design of the olympic park to become immediately apparent as soon as it entered use, and the velodrome to fall down half way through a race. as it turned out, we actually did a rather good job i think. i'm just annoyed that i didn't realise until half way through the actual games themselves (rather than 1 year ago when the ticket ballot happened) that i actually wanted to go.

you don't really think about these things that much, but the next games which might be at least somewhat convenient to attend is probably going to be 2024 (when i expect paris will get it), by which point i will be 45 and hopefully too fat to fit in any of the seats in any of the venues.
