The swine! I bet they don't even have the horse on the podium or even say it's name! I bet the horse isn't even British! :mad:0 -

Apparently it was born in Ghent to a Belgian and an Australian. Definitely British though - as British as Laura Robson.0 -
According to the Guardian the horse is an illegal asylum seeker and a triumph for multi-cultural horse Britain.0

I thought his mother was English (not Belgian)?Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

Last night was too disjointed. I was in block 228 near the Olympic Flame and Javelin, so decent seats although I've spent nearly £500 on four events.:eek:Oh well, a once in a lifetime event. I've got to say I actually enjoyed the Hockey and beach volleyball the most, I guess I was just unlucky with the Track and Field.
I'll go back to watching the Spar European Cup for a live event. I like it because you get the best of the Athletics. Every race is a final, it's over two days and is usually somewhere warm. Unfortunately next year it's in Gateshead:(
Just got in from work but can't believe how many pages further along this thread has got in a day.
Agree re European Cup. My disappointment is that they are still holding the 2013 Diamond League (Aviva Grand Prix) meeting at Crystal Palace even though they have the Olympic Stadium. How daft is that?
I like Diamond League meetings for exactly the same reason as you like the Spar Europeans: you get to see the best athletes, it's non-stop stuff, all finals... But what does it say about us as a country that we have built the most up-to-date track in the world with great facilities but we want to hold our athletics in an ageing stadium where many of the seats aren't in covered grandstands and the transport links are nothing short of sh!te?Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Amusing story about the Spar in Leira 2009.
I decided not to join my friends on the 'organised tour' too bloody expensive. Anyway I was making a trip of it, driving up to Oporto then down to the Algarve to visit friends, so decided to do my own thing.
A month before the meet I saw on the website you could apply for a Media pass, so I applied, made up a Magazine name, and thought no more about it. Two weeks later I got ratified for a media pass! Turned up at the Stadium on the Friday evening and got asked for my Press Pass. In the Hotel I said, showed them my Passport and got handed the Media Pack. Turned up for the meet the next day to find my seat on the finishing line, with a computer and other Gizmo's I hadn't the foggiest how to use. My seat was in-between a reporter from the Mail on one side and the Telegraph on the other. You should have seen the faces of the Tour Group my friends were with when they found out! Best blag ever!0
