When your sorted and if you decide to home dye again I would highly recommend Nice and Easy 114, light ash brown, comes out a couple of shades darker and doesnt fade as quickly or have a ginger tint because of the ash in it.

  • I'm a bit of a whizz with colour strippers :) Went from black to blonde and tried to do it all at home. BIG MISTAKE! Hindsight is a beautiful thing.

Try Effinage eraser you can only get it off ebay I think. Its a little bit more expensive than Colour B4 but doesn't smell half has bad and you don't have to leave it on as long, it actually made my hair feel really really soft. If you are going to use Colour B4 be careful about dying afterwards its very important you don't use a dye with ammonia in it as it could go really dark. I second using head and shoulders or you could try a clarifying shampoo.

    THanks everyone.

I just phoned Boots and they were great. I have to send them the packaging and tube of dye back, via my local store, but in the meantime they have put £10 onto my advantage card to get some colour remover and once they have the packaging back they will discuss with me what else they can do - she mentioned getting it put right at the hairdresser.

She also said about anti-dandruff shampoos or Vosene.

So I feel a bit happier although once I got off the phone I realised they hadn;t put enough on my card for the remover as it is a bit more than that I think.

But anyway, they are at least taking it seriously and in the meantime I can hopefully remove the colour.

My only concern is my mate said those removers destroy your hair aand make it frizzy. But I'm not sure I have a lot of choice.

My hair dresser recommends washing up liquid as well. If it's only a semi, I don't think I would use colour B4. If you dye your hair a lot, your natural colour may have been altered. Colour B4 stripped all layers of it out, and my natural hair had been bleached to a not particularly fetching fraggle orange colour.
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

I can't remember the last time I dyed my hair. I think I haven;t done it for over two years but I can;t remember. So would I be OK to use that remover?

    UPDATE

I've done a strand test with the remover and it is brown with maybe a blonde/copper tinge but I held it against my DD's hair which is light brown with blonde highlights and it looked darker than hers so I've gone for it!

Currently got remover on my head and doing a strand test with another dye on the original strand. Let's hope I end up a more acceptable colour!

Wow that stuff is great! I ended up a lovely light brown with almost blonde highlights. Much lighter than my natural colour but really lovely so I didn't bother dying it again as it is so nice. I used the colour remover on a green box, not the colour B4 brand, a different one, and it has worked brilliantly!

  • How is the condition of your hair now after using the color remover? Also, which brand did you buy?

I have black semi permanent on my hair. However, it does have a few layers of dye on it. I wanted to lift the black & have a dark warm brown on it.

I use Boots Semi Perminent hair colour to blend in the grey - I usually pick golden blonde as it is lighter then my own colour but takes the 'sparkle' out of the grey.
